Aloha Upcoming and Newly Bandsters,

Banded 10/2 and doing ok. This is day six and im getting in my creamed Soups which are yuck to me. Cream of mushroom just doesnt taste yum without the casserole. But im doing it. I finally resorted to putting some spices in it. Similary, the liquid Isopure, im putting crystal lite in it. If anyone of you have done the ready made Isopure, you know what a dreaded taste it has, but with a lil flavor it goes down nicely and you get your Protein. For Breakfast yesterday I had cream of wheat diluated with silk soy milk with one spoon of splenda. It was nice and my first carb. Im only getting in 4 oz of liquids at a time but i seem to do much better with Water now. Im not as dehydrated. I was nervous like most of you, but you will find its a breeze, as long as you walk, walk, walk, to get the gas pains out. Good luck to all..will write more..

Aloha and God Bless,

Miriam

My lap-band date is Oct. 24. I am starting my liquid diet today. I was supposed to be banded Sept. 18. It turned out I needed gall bladder surgery just a few days before. When the doctor took my gall bladder, he said that I needed to lose more weight first. I'm really scared because I've only lost a pound and a half so far.:omg: I have lost 51 lbs of fat, and gained some muscle though. I've only lost 19 altogether. I was supposed to lose 40 - 50. I have been wanting to come on this thread for a while, but I've been too worried about my doctor changing the date. Then I decided to post anyway, because I'm thinking that any support would be great.:car:

Janet - you WILL lose heaps in the next 2 weeks, so long as you stick to the liquid diet like glue......... and no caffiene, you don't have much leaway, and it will slow you down. Honey - you can do this!!! Stop thinking 40-50 right now - and just focus on 40 - you are half way there!!!! I would back off anything that builds muscle at the moment, and if you want to exercise, then just focus on fat burning zone - brisk walk etc

You want me to pick up my pom-poms???? Go Janet! Go Janet! Go Janet! Hugs K

Karen, thanks for the advise. You are very supportive. Are you sure you weren't a cheer leader in a past life? lol

How are you doing with your pre-op diet? Is your surgery the 29th of Oct.?

How do you know that your liver has shrunk?

I have a date of 10-10-07 and have lost 9 pounds to date.

when you are on the intensive phase diets prior to surgery, the liver is the first place to lose excess fat...... good news hey!! Good luck for everything....cheers K

2 more days until my date. I am excited, and nervous. I have been on slimfast so long its starting to taste good.

I have lost 9 pounds so far. How do they know if the liver has shrunk?

they will be able to tell when they go in, the only other way is by ultrasound, but I doubt that will happen before your surgery. They like the liver to shrink a bit to get it out of the way, because they need to get to the top of the stomach, which is basically underneath the liver. If the weight of it is reduced it can alleiviate bruising etc. good luck - K

Kelly, I'm in Bakersfield too! I am having my surgery with Dr. Irani. I'm pretty sure there is a support group tonight at the downtown Mercy hosipital. I think it starts at 5:30. I've been trying to call today to find out for sure, but they have not been answering. The number is 661-663-6764. I'm planning on going. If I don't hear back, I am still going to go because I am pretty sure about the date and time. I'll be the one with the six year old boy. ( I don't have a sitter) Hope to see (meet)you there!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
