Yes....It is A bit crazy my mind wants me to eat more and I feel like I should but I just can't it is a weird feeling. I made a piece of fish for dinner I could only eat 3 small fork full... I need to ask my doctor if it is normal as soon as I start eating I get gas gain and my stomach makes weird noises. I burp a lot. I am not sure if that is a normal thing....It is a sharp stabbing pain in my upper chest...

The gurgling is very normal.....my stomach is very vocal! haha..........The pain is another issue. You're still early in the pre-op and it may just be you're still healing but you should talk with your doctor about any pain you're experiencing.

I had a hernia repair along with my sleeve surgery and I had a lot of chest pain for the first two weeks after surgery....did you have a hernia repair?

No my surgery said everything went good and looked good while he was in there...I was thinking maybe I am just trying to eat too many types of food too soon... tomorrow I will go back to Protein shakes and see if that helps...I do get the pain a min or two after drinking...my postop visit is the 11th

I started taking walks outside maybe 3 days after surgery, small and slow at first and gradually added length and pace as I felt able to do so.

It sounds like you're eating too fast. Take more time between bites and see if that helps with that pain.

I was hungry pretty quickly after surgery. It was definitely hunger pain and not head hunger. I just tried to keep my mind off of it the best I could. Distract yourself and drink whatever they'll let you, Water, broth, whatever you can.

Make your own bone broth using beef bones, carrots and celery...add spices and drain...Pinterest has tons of recipes.

Add some nutritional yeast to homemade Bone Broth. It adds a robust savory taste AND Protein.

Try it and post on what you thought about it.

Good luck.

It does get better.

I had a egg this morning idk but maybe I ate it too fast but it made my stomach hurt and made me feel like throwing up...it is weird that one egg can fill me up...i use to be able to eat 7 eggs with lots of bread.ha ha

I don't want another egg for a long long time lol my first day of soft stage I ate 1 egg and I think it tried to kill me I was in so much pain over 1 little egg I want try them again for a while. My stomach seem to handle soft cheese really well.

I am 4 days post op and on full liquids. Between shakes and during I have this growling feeling in my stomach like when you're really hungry but I am not sure if it's hunger or maybe acid. I am on Protonix for 30 days so maybe that will go away. Has anyone else had this? It's annoying and slightly worrisome. I see my surgeon on Monday afternoon.

I had my surgery on the 27th, too. My doctor put me on the purée phase on day eight. I have been eating egg beaters' yogurt' applesauce' baby food, sugar free pudding, mashed potatoes, and cottage cheese. So far, with my fluids, things have been going smoothly.

@@AmberMc03 - YEs it is normal. It can take a week or so for the Protonix to kick in. It will get better.

I wonder if I'll be on Protonox forever? It's really expensive even after insurance!

I'm on protonox too. Is that for acid? I was given so much that I don't know what's what!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
