Weight loss milestones/how to celebrate?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am looking for ideas on how to celebrate/commemorate 100 pounds gone for good! I still have about 25 to go before reaching goal but want to do/buy something to Celebrate this achievement. Any ideas? My husband wants to take me out for dinner.....not interested in celebrating with food as I'm trying to (still) get RID of the thought process that Celebrate = food.

Thank you!

Ooooh!

* Clothes - something pretty special

* Massage - a truly great masseuse can change your life

* Facial - or even better, a package of facials

* Spray tan - a good one, not an orange one :)

* Jewelry - never a wrong choice

* New makeup - Sephora is the girl palace

* Great bottle of wine - if you're into that and if you're allowing yourself any alcohol yet

* Kayaking / canoeing trip - 'tis the season if you live in the northern hemisphere

I could go on and on and on. :)

Congratulations, by the way. You're doing great. :)

Diamonds!

When I get under 200 pounds, I am buying myself diamond earrings. When I get to a stable weight, I am going to replenish my shoe collection and the first thing I am going to buy are a pair of nude Louboutin pumps.

I think jewelry is the best choice though really, you have something you can keep long term that has meaning attached.

I would go with jewellery as well. I've only got a little bit to go to reach the magic 100 so I think I will start looking !

Well done on your loss

Proud Grammy love the idea of that tattoo, but I would be far too nervous to face the needle! The worst part for me of having this surgery was having to inject the blood thinners into my stomachs for a couple of weeks when I got home. I made my husband do it!

would be far too nervous to face the needle

@@chrisredjeep

i was determined to get the tattoo

i was also scared that the needle et al would hurt!!!

it was "ok"

hubby wasn't thrilled :(

i told him i wouldn't get another tattoo for the next 60 years!!!

6 months later..... i got a small italic tattoo on my right ankle with a pretty little butterfly

86 year old mom llllloves butterflies, this tat will be a good memory for me

asked the tattoo artist if it was going to hurt, he said no

when he was all done - i jokingly told him he "lied" to me

it really DID hurt!!!

6 months later i got the word survivor in small italic letters (under the butterfly)

(i am a proud breast cancer survivor)

17 years ago i ordered a drivers license vanity plate that says

CA SRV

you've gone through a lot losing 99 lbs!!

you can deal with a couple of needles too!!

kathy

congrats

I have a couple of goal rewards all tattoos though :) since I'm deathly afraid of needles they are big rewards. Reaching 200 - and reaching/staying at goal (135) with plastics (probably).

I should probably think of smaller goals for on the way though to keep me motivated.

For small goals, I plan to get regular pedicures. I consider this a reward for increasing my exercise, need to pamper the feet and take care of them for taking care of me. And investing in some good face products to hopefully help firm and reduce the sagging in that area since they don't make Spanx for your face!

For bigger goals, I have some vacation ideas. A big part of doing this for me was the be able to travel comfortably and be able to really get out and walk and explore/enjoy the places I visit. The vacations get "bigger" the closer to goal I get. The ultimate will be a trip to finland to sleep in a glass igloo under the northern lights - sounds weird I know but truly a once in a lifetime experience.

I like the jewelry idea too as a permanent keepsake.

As for tattoos - I also hate needles, have to give myself a peptalk before each blood thinner injection (only two more left!) but I have 3 tattoos with no issues. It's a different kind of pain on those and my last one wasn't even painful - just a vibration. Just really do your research on your tattoo artist first.

For intermediate milestones I schedule massages.

For bigger milestones, a mani-pedi.

I also have been treating myself to Blenko or other blown glass pieces (just because I love it).

For my biggest goal I plan to learn to surf.

As I go along, I am doing more activities as I am able. Last weekend, I took a road trip to another state to take a two-day class. There is NO WAY I could have done that a year (200 pounds) or even 100 pounds ago.

At the end of this month I am attending a week-long writing workshop. A year ago I wouldn't have been able to complete the application let alone plan to attend.

Another milestone is that I am preparing to start job hunting again. I have been on disability and returning to the workforce is major.

I buy new clothes. In particular special occasion dresses for parties, date night, my birthday, etc. I sometimes buy them a little smaller than what I wear currently to keep me motivated, future focused, and on track.

I appreciate the husband wanting to Celebrate your victory. That is great he wants to give you something to mark the change. That is the sign of a good and engaged guy.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
