My first non-liquid food is a mashed scrambled egg. Is it normal not to be able to eat one whole egg? I ate maybe a quarter of it (probably not even that much), and hit that moment of too much food.

yes. Think about it, most of your stomach was just removed and after that kind of trauma everything is incredibly swollen inside. For a while you will feel extra restriction. 6 or 7 months post op for most people the last of the swelling is gone and that is the true size of your sleeve. Many people find that at that point they can suddenly eat more and worry that they stretched their sleeve (which is not actually possible)

I will say this - that quarter scrambled egg was the best tasting scrambled egg in all of the world. :)

Very normal. Seen that same amount mentioned several times before. About a quarter of an egg. I'm kind of nervous for when I start my soft foods because up until now Soups have made me feel kind of satisfied but not quite "full" (but I'm not hungry in general) so I'm not sure what to expect yet!

Very normal.... early out you are very swollen from surgery.... so you can't eat much, but it increases a little each week.

For me i was able to finish half from week 3-5 & whole egg at around week 6....

Even now, i am starting week 9, i can't do more than a whole egg regardless of how it is prepared.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
