Hi There,

I'm doing the RNY on August 8th like some of you all, and I would love to have as many buddies as possible, haha. Feel free to pm me if anyone wants to chat more directly ever. I'm doing a pretty rigid no/low carb diet right now, and it's been tough for me. I also just got the news that I have to do four days of only Clear liquids (and they said no juice or clear soda or anything with calories basically) :( Blargh. I've also been super emotional and on the edge of tears. It's nice to hear that I'm not the only one, though. Hang in there everyone!

August 29th here. LB to RNY revision. Got 2 weeks away a year ago and changed my mind. A year later and I'm kicking myself - I could be thin by now!! So if you're nervous and wondering if you're doing the right thing...don't do what I did! Go for it!

@@MrsMonroe - I'm from Waco but having my surgery in Dallas with Dr. Hodges. She is who I was scheduled with last year (not HER fault I got nervous). She was with Barker Bariatric but she and another doc there went off on their own. I'm self-pay and her price actually went DOWN $3,000! Sweet.

All you early-August gals...Best of luck!!

I just got a a terrifying phone call.

Some lady said that she was calling from the hospital where my surgery is scheduled. She said my insurance is covering 80% and I'm responsible for the 20%. (I was already aware of that) Then she said that my 20% comes out to $6,630 and that I had to leave a deposit over the phone of at least half. My surgery center required a deposit to meet my deductible of $3,000. I paid that last week. I told the lady on the phone that I had already paid $3,000, she said it wasn't showing up on her end and that it might've just been the surgeons fee which is not included in the facility fee. I AM FREAKING OUT. I don't have another $3,000 to pay by Tuesday!! I can't call my insurance or surgeons office since they are both closed on Sunday. Has anyone gone through this???

Pink Ninja,

What facility (or facilities) are you using?

I see.

I was going through True Results and received an email yesterday that they are permanently closing (as well as the surgeon is "no longer providing bariatric surgery." I had two appointments left, and just verified an appointment via text on Thursday for my appointment on Tuesday.

So I wondered if you could be in the same boat. What insurance are you using? I'm on United Health Care.

That doesn't sound accurate, working for a major medical center, that sounds like a breakdown in their system. Check details and documented payments before you pay further

Thursday is "S-day". I feel like Im just flapping around here. Im not misinformed, I know what needs to be done, and yet I feel so outta my element. If I allow myself to think about the surgery I get so nervous, so Ive been attempting to not think about it.

Im ready for it to be over with, and terrified for it to begin.

It's never too late, until its too late

I'm on Wednesday and feeling similarly @@MinaDina so it has been cleaning weekend. One more day of shakes then clear (non-artificially) colored liquids until midnight. So... Fresh sheets, sanitizing the shower, cleaning travel clothes and clothes to pack, spending time with family, and going for long Pokemon walks. My family needs this time as much as I do.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
