  3. Whoops, I think I didn't clarify, my issue isn't with absorption, its just taste. I tried the applesauce though and crisis averted! I was able to sort of "bury" the powder in a small amount and swallow it with out ever tasting it. My surgeon requires me to crush all meds for 4 weeks, but didn't say anything about size. I am going ask tomorrow at my 1 week follow up though because both of my pills are tiny. At this point I don't think I can swallow them whole regardless, I've always had issues swallowing them due to them getting stuck in my throat, and needed to chug Water to get them down, which is something I just can't do anymore. If this didn't work I was definitely going to try the tobasco!

  7. I have three medications I take regularly, 1 of which I have stopped since my surgery for the time being since it isn't really important, but the other two I need to be taking. As far as I know there are no alternative forms of these (levothyroxine and topiramate) so I am forced to take the crushed pills twice daily. The topiramate is AWFUL. Today I tried mixing it with chocolate pudding and I had to keep adding more pudding until I had added almost 1 1/2 cps just to make it bearable. Obviously that is not a reasonable amount to eat just post op RnY. It takes about a cup of cottage cheese for the same effect. So I'm wondering if anyone has a better suggestion. Tonight I'll try applesauce but I don't see how that will be much better. How long until I will be able to stomach taking the pill whole? It is a very very small pill. I have an appointment on Tuesday with my surgeon but in the mean time I'm struggling. Please help! Thanks! ~Molly

  11. I just want to say that I've never had children but boy do I have a special appreciation for the pregnant lady squat now hahaha I woke up this morning with almost all my pain gone though! I dont feel likei have an issue getting protein, but I definitely am not getting even close to the liquid. I wanna weigh so freaking bad but I'm still a little bloated so I'm trying to wait the full week! Have any of you guys post op weighed yet? How has your pain been?

  21. I'm finally home and feeling better worth my drain out. Mostly I just feel like I got kicked in the stomach after an insane workout. My stomach won't tolerate anything cold or room temperature yet, not even water so it's just been chicken broth! I still can't belive this is real, that this actually happened. I feel likea completely new person at the start ofa new life!
  22. They aren't letting me start clear liquids today because my stomach is still too inflamed and it takes 10 very uncomfortable minutes for 1 small sip to go from the top of the stomach to the bottom of it. Of course they had already brought me the broth and jello right before my test so now it's just sitting there starting at me and smelling gooooooood.
  23. Gastric bypass was at 2 pm yesterday andi have to say that while it was quite a bit more painful than I was expecting, I feel a lot better over all than I thoughti would! So far I have almost no nausea and I'm able to walk fine. But holy cow the dry mouth is real! Luckily they let me suck on a few pieces of ice every hour. Peeing is such a pain, wiping more specifically . I can't believe this is real! This really happened! I want to use this hospital time to reflect on what serious changes I need/want to make with my diet. I cheated on my preop diet a few times but I made sure to get right back to it which I never did in the past. Gotta keep moving forward now! Also did anyone else who had the surgery already get a drain? Good luck to everyone going in. I was so terrified, and now I'm so freaking happy!
  24. Can this day be over already?!!? I could barely sleep last night and I know I won't sleep at all tonight. Too excited and nervous for tomorrow... Ahhhhhhhhh!!!

  26. Me! I'm ready for it to be over with already, I'm getting sick of being nervous! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
  27. I'm on day 8 of the preop diet and it has definitely gotten easier. I'm allowed to have 2 protein shakes and a dinner consisting of a lean meat and nonstarchy veggies. It didnt say anywhere that I was allowed to have sf jello or popsicles but I went out and bought some anyways on the third night because that is when I had my crash/meltdown lol. Helped A LOT and I'm still staying around 700-800 calories/day, and losing consistently.

  30. ^this for sure. I was worried about saying the right things or accidently saying something that would make the psych think I'm not ready. In the end due to other issues im dealing with personally and medically (unrelated to food or my weight) she gave me clearance on the condition that I start to see a psychologist regularly. I think if you're honest about your past and show the person that you're taking it seriously and that you understand what it means, they'll see that you're emotionally stable in that regard. Good luck! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
  31. Yeeeees! I keep doing the same thing, questioning if I should just keep trying on my own, but I know it's just nerves and that if I put it off i'll never really feel ready. I'm not getting any younger so now is the time! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
  32. Crazy! I'm on day 5 and I have to agree that 3 and 4 are the worst. Mostly day 3. I woke up with a headache, starving and angry. Today is much better despite all of the temptation. I'm right there with you! I'm on Day 2 and soooo miserable! I'm counting the days! Best of luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
  33. My surgery is August 1st! On day three of the pre-op diet =(((( It took me like four weeks after being submitted to the insurance company to find out I was actually approved because the first time they submitted my Drs office gave them the wrong info which caused me to be denied... They ended up fixing it though thank goodness! I'm nervous and hungry >.< I just want it over with already!
  34. I'm also in Lakeland!
