Spinning class?

Recommended Posts

I have been researching some ofthe gyms around here and just looking into different things. For some reason, whenever I hear of a spinning class, it sounds great to me. I used to love riding my bike, but haven't done that in so long. I know you can really go all out if you do spinning and I just really like the idea of it.

Does anyone else here take spinning classes? Do you like it? Has it worked for you?

Funny you mention, I just took my first spinning class yesterday, and I can't wait for next Sunday for my second class. It was great, super intense, and I couldn't do everything that the instructor was calling for, but for the things I couldn't do I just kept pedaling. It is probably the best workout I've had so far, since I've started working out again, about 2 1/2 months now.

Also, even though my heart was beating like crazy, and the music was pounding, and I was sweating like a pig, the lights were all off with just some black lights and some neon chalk on the walls, and it was almost meditative. It made me focus more on my form than I do on any of the machines (elliptical, treadmill, stationary bike, etc.)

By the way, take the day off from the gym the following day, I'm so sore I can barely walk up my stairs!

I'm so glad you mentioned this! Now THIS I would like to try.

My daughter and I were just discussing my goal weight -- which she thinks might be a little light, comparing it to what she knows I weighed as a bride. BUT, I told her, I rode my bike HOURS every day, so I was small, but very firm and weighed 15-20lbs more than I looked like I did.

She walked away and I was sitting here thinking how odd I would look perched on a bike and circling my new, flat, all-the-streets-look-alike neighborhood like I did the very different one I grew up in!

Spinning class!!

I'm off to call the gym!

I'm going to look into it the next session at the YMCA. I've always looked in there and it seems like alot of fun...and boy they do come out of there all sweaty so it must be working. Fun is the key to keeping on exercising so I'm gonna hope there's a class I can attend. I'll letcha all know how it goes :car:

I include two classes a week in my workout schedule and have done for a couple of months now. I love love love it. I've found my fitness has increased SO quickly and it has helped break my 3 month weight loss plateau. I highly recommend it to anyone - its a self regulated class, you can go as hard or as easy as you like. I always come out pouring with sweat!

I though a spinning class would be fun too..... I was apparently with the pro group. They all had special shoes that clip into the pedals. I told the instructor it was my first spinning class, so she made me sit up front with her so I could watch. It was insane. I never though pedaling would be so hard. Plus ASS PAIN. I couldn't keep up, but I stayed through the whole time and kept pedaling... I left, drove home, my legs wouldn't work to get our of the car. I had to lift them out onto the ground...... Never experienced that before! Maybe it was just the class at MY gym.... but I felt like I had to be in supershape to keep up their pace. My ass hurt for a week. I told the girls at work I didn't think I could have children anymore. I recomend baby steps! Everyone was nice, but I was embarassed that I couldn't keep up, but then it became a Quest for survival. Good Luck, try a lifting class, those are fun, and non life threatening.

Very true about the ass pain. I took the class on Sun and I'm still hurting, and I definately couldn't keep up either...but that's why I want to go back. I want to be able to do everything that the instructor does...

To help get use to the seat, I rode the stationary bike until I was ready for the spin class. This helped me develop a nice solid form for riding a bike. I also purchased a seat cushion because that little seat hurts more in men... I'm looking forward to getting back into class in September (after my 6th week)...

I joined the gym 2 weeks before being banded. Spinning was the first class I tried. I LOVED it. It was completely awesome, a real adrenalin rush. A couple of days later I tried a YOGA class. Hated It!!. I have been banded one week and cant wait until next week when I can hopefully go to spinning class again.

I start my class tomorrow...yikes!

I'm gonna go look for a padded seat thing. Or would that make me look like a complete dork?..i just don't wanna be in that much pain during the class.

You wouldn't look like a dork, there was a woman last night that had special shoes that fit the pedals. I thought it was cool. And even if you don't get something for the seat, the butt pain does subside. The first class was killer, but today I'm only slightly sore when I sit for a long time. I really hope you enjoy it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
