TOO MUCH OF ME hi, that was an inspiring story about your boss. I finally decided who and when for the surgery. Next couple of days I will set up my date. Maybe end of Sept or early Oct. I'M READY FOR THE BIG PLUNGE. fIGURED MY FINANCES and how I'll pay for it. Now I'm dreamin of slim days ahead. Can't wait to bring out of storage my slim clothes. They may be super outdated but who cares...

Hey NM Sunshine... It would be neat if you could get your surgery scheduled close to mine on October 16th... That way we could be support buddies and could meet each other in person while we are both in the Denver area... Just a suggestion, but I understand how it is once you make up your mind to get it done, you want to get it as soon as you can... It's surprising how quickly things move along once you make that initial call.... Let's us know how things go...

Happy Camper, That was my thought. I better do it now before I get "too old". I wish I had done it sooner, but what can I say. I have had knee replacement and 3 hip surgeries. The hip surgeries were all within a year. So, even though I know this is surgery, it will be like a teeth cleaning compared to the hip surgies.

Hello,

I am also 62 years old and weigh 123kilos, now diabetic, but thought I was too old to be banded. I am so glad there are others my age on this forum. It has given me hope that there may still be hope for me.

Hugs Beth

aussieladie Because of your age the doc may recommend that you have the surgery in a hospital rather than a surgery clinic. What in pounds is 123kilos?

Hi NM Sunshine---I don't exactly fit into your age request, although some days when I get up, I feel 20 something again, and other days it is 80 something!!! But I just wanted to say HI from the NW corner of NM!!! Congrats on your upcoming surgery, I look forward to watching your progress, and feel it is a GREAT decision---I am thrilled with my results!

Deb (macacoza) I go to Canon City to get my fills done!!! If I choose to have another, I will shoot you a message, maybe we can sip some Water together!!!! Just kidding!!

Good Morning from Aussieland, 123kilos is 270.6lbs using my calculator. We use kilos here for measurments. For each kilo we weigh aprox. 2.2lbs.

Kat817 HI, and welcome. Your from the nw corner of NM...Farmington? I'm from Silver City, NM. I have my banding day set up for Sept 11 with DR Gonzales of TJ. Have to go on that liquid preop diet in a week or so. Was it hard to do? Or possibly you didn't have to do a pre-op diet?

I cannot bedlieve that I first heard of the LapBand couple of weeks ago and now here I am only a few weeks until I will have it done!!!

Aussie thanks for the kilo to pounds for me. We Americans and our foot, inch and pounds. I really need to sit down someday and learn the conversions.

NM Sunshine.. Wow, that is a quick surgery date... I see that you decided to go to TJ instead.. Is it closer to you than Colorado?

I'm getting so excited about my band.. I went to San Francisco yesterday and I had a hard time walking around. My poor knees and hips hurt so bad.. So today, I'm started walking to see if I can build up my stamina and get my exercise routine started... It's just a good thing that my DH is so understanding when it comes to my walking when we are out..

Technically I am from Aztec. I used to know a guy who owned the Buffalo Bar in Silver City!!! Well at least his family at the time.

I had 10 days of high Protein, low fat, low sugar...but that was it for my pre-op. I basically did an Atkins thing, and did it for longer than the required 10 days---he said I did fine, my liver was quite maleable (sp?).

When I made the decision to go to MX it moved quickly for me too!

Congrats on your date!!! I remember the excitement--mixed with all the other emotions---but it is a GOOD thing, I love my band!

Hi to all,

I am 60 yrs old and was banded on Aug. 20th 2007 Yes this year. for the firs time ever... my blood sugars are within normal range. That means in the first two weeks of a pre surgery diet and 4 days out from surgery I have my blood suger under control without meds. How cool is that. Now I'm working on my blood pressure meds. I have 2 grown childre ages 42 and 37 one grandchild that will be 8 yrs old in Dec. I did this banding because I want to enjoy life and keep up with my grandchild and of course live a longer and happier life. So don't think you are to old to make yourself healthier.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
