Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Waffling between 254-256 for the past few days. I don't know if these are stalls or if this is just the weight loss pattern to expect..?

Hi all! Sounds like we're all stuck in about the same place. I've lost 39 pounds. Or 39.5, or 38.5, or 39 again. But my body is like 'I'll never let you see 40 pounds lost!!!!'. I'm traveling now, so I don't have a scale, and food is complicated in a hotel. I do have a mini-fridge and a microwave but this was easier at home. BUT, I'm using the gym and the pool, so we'll see what that damned scale has to say in a week! Have a great weekend, everyone! I'm moving my baby into his dorm for sophomore year today, say a little prayer for this mom's heart <3

ROFL as that is so true about being stuck. I am doing the same dance and so want to get to 40 pounds lost. Closest I've gotten is 39! I am sure it is harder while traveling, but i have no doubt you will do well. Have fun with the move. A bit sad and exciting at the same time I am sure.

I just traveling on vaca and forgot my cups to help measure with no scale. I think I did ok and broke a week long stall with about 5 lbs lost. I didn't feel as deprived as lobster is my main food goal on vaca and it is diet approved. It just took more than one meal to eat one but saved money as well! Lobster hot for dinner lobster salad for lunch on beach!

@@chycky We've spent many summer vacations in Maine, and I ate lobster every. single. day. I haven't had any since my surgery, but I may try some soon! I hope your vacation was wonderful :)

@@ShelterDog64 thank you! If you get a chance it is well worth it. Lobster is not as cheap here as it was up in RI but I will be looking to have again before season ends.

@@KristenLe I shudder to think I could become allergic I could eat it every meal!

Really struggling with Water the last two days being somewhat off normal schedule due to vaca has been challenging. I put priority on the Protein shakes! I even made some of the chicken broth protein but had one snafu when water was too hot had to dump the hockey puck "biscuit" that formed and start over!

Sounds like most of us are in a stall. I lost like crazy last week but this week has been hovering between 247-249. That's fine. I know it will come off eventually. I've gotten to the gym twice this week and I'm watching what I eat. I've been struggling with remembering my Vitamins with the new work schedule but i set an alarm and that's helping.

After 14 days of up down up down, do I dare trust the brand new 1/2 lb loss my scale showed this morning? Think I am going to see if it is real on tomorrow's episode of "Days in our lives of weight loss...."

@@magoosmom - glad you had that ride last week. I bet you feel great!

@@suzzzzz take the loss :). I consider the lowest weight recorded to be my weight until the next lowest weight! Really eating less than 800 calories and working out I ignored the back and forth 1/2 lb that happened. I know that will change and will eventually need to watch climbs but at this point I am sticking to LW that I get even if takes a week to come down again!

Thanks. I like that idea. I get having a stall, just didn't expect to do that dance for 2 weeks solid. And, I am happy to report another 1/2 down which takes me to 40 lbs lost in 2 mths. I am happy with my progress and so grateful that I don't feel deprived. I need some of that lobster to celebrate!

My stall has ended too!!!! I'm -43 lbs since 21 June :-) I agree about not feeling deprived, I've had meatballs, beet and feta salad, quinoa, spinach, steak and oatmeal in just the past few days. Plus, the fridge in my hotel room has a tiny little freezer space so I got a box of my beloved sugar-free tropical Popsicles. Happy Sunday, losers!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
