Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Had my first scrambled egg today. I added a little cheese, salt and pepper and it was delish. No issues as I ate it very slowly. I like getting to this stage with a lot of new things to try. Ground beef is on the menu soon.

Same here suzzzzz! Half a scrambled egg never tasted so good. My first day with that too. I also had a couple bites of tuna fish which went down well. It's so funny how all of our programs are so different....I can't have ground beef, or any kind of meat aside from fish, for about 4 more weeks, so I'm jealous!

I am getting so frustrated----I hit the first stall about 10 days post op and my scale hasn't moved in a week. Anyone else stalling this early in the process?

Me!! I was losing 1 lb/day, then lost 3 lbs in one day...then no loss for 3 days, lost 1 lb and now no loss for 3 days. I'm doubling down on ensuring I'm getting at least 60g protein/day and riding it out. This stall can't last forever, I'm only eating 500-600 calories/day!

We bought kayaks yesterday so hopefully some time paddling around the Sound this weekend will jump start me :) I did measure myself yesterday and I've lost 6 inches off my waist and 4 from my thighs :) I'm sorry you're going through it, too, but glad to have some company in my misery!

We were out doing some shopping last night and it got late, so stopped to get some dinner with my husband, son and son's friend. Ended up at a brewpub-y kind of place and it was HARD to find something to eat. I ended up going with a cup of chowder, but for the first time, I had food envy. They had fried calamari, which is (was!) one of my top 10 favorite things to eat EVER. But the envy wasn't so strong that I did something stupid, like eat a piece of it...this morning I feel virtuous even though the scale isn't moving right now. I can't wait until I can go out and order a salad with some grilled chicken or salmon. Never thought a salad would feel like a splurge! Hope you're all looking forward to a fun weekend....but where is our Maggie? I wish she'd post and let us know how she's doing.

I must be in my week 3 stall too :( I keep reading about it so I decided to not weigh all week but this morning I couldn't help it and it hasn't changed in a week! Hopefully this don't last long.

Now is a good time to measure all over body, record numbers, and have those available for NSV in future!

I am having fun on the soft foods stage. Had a chicken sour cream enchilada without tortilla, meatballs in a very light gravy, banana, guacomole, topping from nachos, and I have so much more to try. Have company visiting for weekend and eating out lunch and dinners. Protien shake in morning and afternoon.

@@Maggie143 hope you are feeling better and hope to hear from you soon!

Am down 12 lbs since surgery on 6/30. Was down 5, then 12, up 3, stayed there a week, and back to 12 for 3 day. Very frustrating. I'm probably not moving enough.

I swim 20 laps in an Olympic sized pool because I have had back surgery (scoliosis) . When I feel that I've hit a stall, I swim more and harder. If I keep looking at the scale, the anxiety drives me insane. I tell myself "You didn't gain the weight overnight so stop thinking that you will loose it overnight". I learned that if you let your feelings rent space in your head, you will go nuts.

I was sleeved June 22. I have lost 14 pounds so far. The past few weeks have been very challenging for me mentally. I like it's the menopause! Everyone say they can see I'm losing weight. My advice is to stay hydrated, get your Protein in, and surround yourself with only positive people.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
