@@Shaunie what made you decide to go with RNY?

Hi, I had the lab band done 8 years ago and this past sept. Had to have it removed due to prolapse. I wanted to do GB then but my surgeon did not do it laproscopicly so I chicken out. I have a good amount of weight to lose roughly 130lbs so for me GB will be the perfect tool to help me with that. I'm pretty nervous!! I also have 2 small boys, which is the most important reason why I am doing this. I have an amazing husband which will help me reach my goal also. No early 4th celebration for this girl I figure ill have plenty to Celebrate afterwards. ;-)

Ok! And yeah if they didn't do these surgeries laparoscopicly these days I think a lot of people wouldn't do it. Well congratulations again!

Just learned that my reassessment has been bumped to Thursday next week AND that AETNA decided this week to mandate another month of dietitian visits for all incoming patients. Looks like I am waiting again. School starts for me the second week of August with teacher in-service and training. The time crunch is going to be a challenge.

One of the things I've seen here in the forums that will help me during preop is that being busy and distracting from the waiting process helps. Planning ahead for each "meal" of the day and prearranging exercise for each day is for the best. My very healthy daughter says to exercise outside because the heat helps keep you from feeling hungry afterward. In addition, everyone here is sooooo supportive. The process would be much more difficult without y'all.

Thanks but it seems like it has taken forever to get this surgery date. I had basically all my requirements done at the end of last year. My medically supervised diet ended in April and I had all my pre surgery blood work done almost two months ago. Heck I didn't even know blood work for surgery was good for that long, I always thought blood work was good for only a couple of weeks before surgery. It's been rough cause I had to lose 32 pounds before surgery and I actually ended up losing 54 but I still have to try to keep it off till July. I'm sick of all of this lol. I'm just patiently waiting though. But not going to lie, I wasn't expecting the process to be this long. It's been almost a year.

Great job losing 54lbs!! That is fantastic! Just a bit longer to go!

After my husband did some additional research, I am doing the sleeve now. Just switched!

Hi ameade, I'm also scheduled for GB July 5th!

Hi Shaunie!! It is great to meet you! One of my biggest fears was malnutrition. I was set on RNY after alot research. However, my husband decided to do additional research and he said no way because of that. So, I just switched to Sleeve.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
