I already do a boot camp called Camp Gladiator. Due to my size and a hiatal hernia there are several things I can't do. But, our one hour workouts will yield a 900+ calorie burn. Will the low calorie diet leave me in a depleted state?

If you try doing this in the first few months I doubt you will have enough energy or/and your body will go into starvation mode as you will not be taking on very many calories. I would wait till the doctor clears you for doing so.

Hi,

When was your surgery?

You should take it very easy. No intense workout at least for 8 weeks after surgery. This was the recommendation from my surgeon. If you are aiming at 900 calories burnt in one session, it will be very intense. You really need to check with your medical team if you can do that. And yes, you will be exhausted. I am 11 weeks out, east 1200-1300 calories per day and I worked out harder this week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)... Yesterday evening I fell asleep at 9 PM, which never happens to me. I woke up this morning completely sore and exhausted. Bottom line, I skipped the gym and now I am mad at myself for pushing too hard. Getting back in shape is a slow and long process. Take your time.

You are certainly going to be living in a huge calorie deficit on the days you do these gladiator workouts.

Only you will know how you'll feel. Sounds like you have already learned to back off and avoid the portions that cause trouble. Good practice to get in.

Being over motivated beats the heck out of the alternative in my opinion. The risk of this tendency is that injuries may occur if you don't listen to your body. All pain is not a bad thing.....but some pains are warning shots over your bow. It has taken me a while to distinguish the differences......

Oh....no surgery yet. I am just starting the counseling now. Hopefully December

I've seen those gladiator workouts going on at a local park and have been curious but too shy to try.

How far out from surgery are you?

I am hoping for December but really gonna have to push them. Cruise the end of January so tight time frame. What part of the country are you in? I love Camp Gladiator! Don't be shy to go. It is truly a family and all skillets are welcome.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
