Boston/ Massachusetts peeps! Looking for a group of sleevers in my area!

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was sleeved on April 13! I'm trying to get a group of Boston people together to hang out , talk, swap stories, progress, recipes, etc. I've found since I had my surgery that a lot of my friends have become distant and stopped including me in stuff because they think I can't eat or drink. This app is great and all, but I figured a group meeting together sort of like our own support group, would be great! We could plan outings and stuff like that?! If anyone is interested, let me know!! Thanks .... Dawn

Let your friends know know you still can, you want to be there to enjoy their company. You can eat what you are allowed to at the appropriate stages and bring home the leftovers in a box.

If they are doing this because they incorrectly feel you would be pressured to eat or drink, that is very nice.

If they are doing this because they feel guilty about eating or drinking to excess and you are a reminder of what they should be doing, then they are doing you a favor.

I'm out on the Vineyard and have a surgery date of 7/18 at B&W. I'd love to stay in touch for future potential support gatherings. I know I'm not in Boston, but I do go there fairly regularly.

Boston Medical Center has a monthly support group for bariatric patients in Quincy. You don't have to be a BMC patient to attend and many young women (problably in their late 20s/ early 30s) spend time together outside of the group.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
