Hi Mary :D

WOW! 53 lbs! how exciting!

I won't be going to the Christmas party due to the fact that I live in Grand Junction (5hrs away) and I am at the point of making the the trip to Greeley every two weeks right now. I will be there on the 15th for my 3rd fill. I have lost 25 lbs so far and am real happy with Dr. johnell and his staff. Steve has had a little trouble giving me my fill lol but Paula comes in and takes over :D

I am feeling my 2nd fill alot better than the 1st..... I was begining to think I was failing at this! but now I am feeling a bit better control of myself and not thinking about food all day.

Do you know others that have had their surgery with Dr. Johnell? and have you gone to any support groups? I know of two people hopeful1 (denise) and she is going to get onto my instant messaging so we can begin a small support group, if your interested let me know so we can set up times to all chat at once and discuss our weight loss journey.

Happy to meet you!

Wow you sure are doing great with your loss. Grand Junction sure is far I belive there are others from your area or if not close by. I have heard thru the support group Leaders that they were going to do some kind of Satalite support not sure when. There are quite a few of us Banders and RYN'S in Colo and not everyone can get here to Greeley without making a long road trip. I go to the support meeting once every month and sometimes if I have time I will drop in on the nites it's the Bypass I figure we are all trying to make the same goal with our loss. They are all a pretty great group and there is a web site for Dr. Johnells patience other than his web site it is under ColoradoWLS. How much do you have now? I had to have a little taken out seems I got some mucus from my sinus infection going down and wala to tight now I am at 1.1cc's and so far so good I go back the last week before the new year not sure what my insurance is going to do for next year they say LapBand is not going to be covered very glad I did it before then. I have never tried the chat do not know how it works but I will check into it let me know. Well back to work for me

Take care and Welcome again

I am a Colorado Bandster. I live in Littleton - just south of Denver. I had my surgery in Mexico with Dr. Kuri and am getting my fills from Dr. Johnelle. His offive is 2 1/2 hours away for me, so I won't be going to any parties or support groups, either! His staff seems great. Paula had no problem hitting my port on the first try. I haven't met Steve yet.

Hi kim

Welcome how are you feeling? Hopefully you well have some restriction here in the immeditate future. They usually say you know for sure by 2 weeks have you talked with Paula yet? She is real good at doing my fills has never missed so far and is usually so fast I do not have time to worry about the needle I have met Steve but I really prefer Paula I am justso use to her.

I did go to the Party for a bit Tuesday night it was quite nice but I had to leave early since it is a work night. All the staff was there and Dr. J as well as the rest of the staff. Wish I could have stayed longer.

Well back to work for me

I am curious( this is for anyone who wants to answer lol)....After your 1st fill how long did the restriction last? and then your 2nd fill? For me the 1st lasted about 3 days then I could eat pretty well again the 2nd fill lasted real well for about 5 day's then it's a hit and miss restriction. I am hoping that soon it will feel a constant restriction and I will not be so hungry. I suppose some of it is head hunger, but man some days I want to eat everything I can lay my hands on!

I am looking forward to the 15th fill and maybe controlling myself some during Christmas :D

FYI

Kim thought you would like to know about the support sites in the Denver area.

There is a local support group

here of patients from all different docs. We meet on the second

Saturday morning in Aurora, or the fourth Monday evening at Rose

Hospital. It is an awesome group, run by the wonderful Flori, and

several other great bandsters. For more information, join the

coloradobandsters yahoo group.

Maureen,

My fills seem to kick in 2-4 days from the time I get my fills. So far I am doing fine on this last one but have noticed I can eat just a tad more but I do have restriction so I do not over eat which a blessing at this time a year. We just got in one of those big party trays and OMG all the cheeses and crackers last year I could have devoured half of it but so far have just had 2 crackers and a little cheese spread.

Hi Ginni,

Nice to meet you, I live in Grand Junction, so am a bit away from most of you. Will you be going to Dr. Johnell for your fills?

how much did you lose in your 15 month period? and tell me what sort of problems your dealing with at the moment....I am on my 3rd fill and going in next week for my 4th, it seemed as though I didn't have much restriction until my 3rd fill and am doing ok for now except the dreaded Holiday yummies! I am sure I won't have lost much or any weight this time around, I am going to have to work harder from here on out for awhile.

If you would like to email me at mhimes62@msn.com for an online support please feel free! I have a few other friends that I am hoping we can all Instant message one another one day a week at the same time so we can chat and see how one another are doing at our different stages.

I'm new to Bariatric Pal and I am now struggling to lose my last 25 lbs. Tired of fighting the FAT fight, but won't allow myself to give up now.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
