Happy in Texas

Recommended Posts

I have never been happier about any decision I've made. I was banded April 27, 2007 by Dr. Barker in Dallas and I have already lost 38 pounts. It is so encouraging to finally be able to control my portions and eat very slowly and not be hungry all the time. This has been the answer to my prayers. Still have about 60 lbs. to lose, but there is no doubt in my mind now that I finally can do it. :clap2:

I'm a Texan as well... I live in Wylie and was banded by Dr. Davidson on 5/10/07!! I am also very happy with my decision. I just received my second fill and boy is the restriction there. I had restriction before but not like this.

Texas Flower- I have a coworker using Dr. Barker, she really likes his staff so far!!

Good luck to everyone!

I am in DFW and had surgery May 23rd by Dr Marsden. I too could not be happier with my decision. I know the weight loss will slow down but I am absolutely thrilled to finally have some control and lots of motivation!

My scale is saying the nicest things it has said to me in years! I am under 230 as of this morning. WOO HOO! I can smell onderland from here...

There sure are lots of us happy in Texas! I'm in Dallas and had my 2 week post op visit yesterday. I'm down 23lbs. so far and anxious for my first fill. Dr. Watson at UT Southwestern waits 8 weeks for a fill though. Did any of you have to wait that long?

TerriDoodle, You do look skinnier!

I'm another Texas girl! And Terri that is a great picture of you and I see a difference!!! I'm another success story for Dr. Spivak in Houston. I gotta take some "during" pics. There should be some kind of change visible by now since I am down 34!:clap2:

Hello! This is off topic, and I only want a min. of your time...:) My family and I are thinking about moving to Texas next summer. My husband works for microsoft and he can transfer down there and work at one of the offices and keep his same pay (we live in the Seattle area now). My sil lives in San Antonio and so we were kind of thinking about moving there, he can also work in Houston. If anyone would like to, could you pm me or something, I would love to here about how you like living there. What it's like...etc. I have never lived anywhere but here!

Thanks!

Carey

sorry for taking over the thread for a brief moment!

Carey, I'm from Houston and I've also lived in San Antonio. Do you have children, school age? I can tell you what part of town to live in for safety

I'm a Texan too! I live north of Austin about 1 hour and was banded by the blessed Dr. Spivak in Houston September of 2007....I'm coming up on my bandiversary!

Carey, I've lived in Texas for 21 years and all over the place. The only hard part I find about it (I have lived in Portland, Oregon too) is the heat in the summers and usually everything turns brown. Other than that there's great TexMex food, a lot of history, mild winters and mountains, desert, piney woods and the gulf coast....all within a days' drive. Oh, did I mention Mexico and Louisiana aren't too far away either?

TexasBecky...I waited 6 weeks for mine, just cuz I couldn't get in any sooner to see the doc. Eight weeks does seem a little long but each doctor has his preferences.

I'm a native Houstonian and 4th generation Texan!! What part of Houston is the office in?

We have a great cost of living here and Texas people are some of the nicest around. The problem is, only one in 50 is from here! LOL Anyway, I love it here in Texas, but Houston itself is getting to me in my old age. I long for the day to move away from here and get out to the countryside. BUT, it has much to offer (everything really) that you could possibly want from a city. The rush hour traffic is horrible. I hope that your husband's office is in the suburbs!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
