Has anyone used Dr. Ponce de Leon directly, with no coordinator?

I am scheduled for a VSG on July 9th, 2016 with dr. Ponce de leon and co. I contacted them directly without speaking to their coordinator. Dr. Frayre contacted me directly to set things up. Has anyone else done this before? I am asking, because the whole thing seems a little unorganized to me compared to other people's stories. I did my research on Dr.'s, so I'm not worried about the actual surgery itself, but the coordination has me a little worried. For instance, all I did was text him the day that I wanted to have surgery, and he texted back that it was fine, and then I sent Dr. Frayre my air travel itinerary. He has not sent that much information to me. Should I be worried, or will I actually have a date, driver, hotel, surgery when I get there. He also told me to have my payment, certified check, made out to him, Dr. Frayre, which I think is kind of weird. Can someone please help me clarify?

Thanks,

Mary

I may be wrong but I would think without a co-ordinator all you have is a booked surgery date like making a Drs appt in the US by phone. You probably need to call and find out and maybe backtrack and do this with some help from a co-ordinator.

I asked Dr. Fayre what was included with the price, and he said that it was transportation, hotel, and medication, hospital stay, etc.

I just sent him a text asking for something that shows the price I am paying from my surgery and exactly what is included with that price.

Does Dr Ponce work through BP? Are you getting your surgery with him? I think at one time Dr. Ponce DE Leon was a Dr for bariatric pal.

Bill, what other surgeons are part of BP? I only see ilian being advertised. There used to be 5 or 6. Please refer me to the page that tells names of all surgeons on BP plan now.
