I was just thinking about you today and was hoping that everything went well!!! :biggrin1:

Thanks for thinking of me Angeleyes!

Had my surgery wednesday 9/26 - everything went well. Doc had great pain meds - I felt nothing - I got some injection every 6 hours and I was hooked up to a morphine pump that I could press if I needed more.

Surgery was @ 11... but didn't get started till 11:20... was out by 1:00pm.. In recovery till 4:15. Then to a room. I was walking the halls @ 6 when my visitors came. Felt good, a little tired, but not hungry at all. I was mega thirsty though - My girlfriend gave me her lip smacker and boy did it taste GOOD! I wish I had eye drops - my eyes were very dry. Was lovin' those ice chips.

After company left, I fell asleep. Wide awake @ 2:30 a.m. - started roaming the halls again. I have NOT had any of the shoulder gas pain and I'm assuming it's because I walked alot?? I do feel bloated still though.

Weighed myself when I got home from the hospital and I was UP 7 lbs!!! I attribute that to all the IV fluids they've given me - because I certainly haven't EATEN anything! Just clear fluids. My first post-op visit is wednesday. Hope to be put on puree foods, but he did say he wanted Clear liquids for TWO weeks... boohoo... He is allowing me to eat a bariatric Protein shake mixed with Water these 2 weeks though.

Been laying low at home trying to give my body the rest it needs to heal. I have walked up and down my street a couple times (trying to stave off those blood clots!). Can't wait to be able to go back to the gym. Doctor said no lifting over 14 lbs for 2 weeks. He said walk whenever I want though and I could drive as soon as I wean off the pain meds (which I am doing - Haven't taken ANY today yet!)... Was sent home with a liquid percocet. It's helpful when I go to bed - getting in and out of bed is when I feel some discomfort - but it isn't bad. I think I was expecting it to be a lot worse!

Can't wait to get a skinny latte from Dunkin' Donuts!!!! (doc said it was ok)...

Good luck everyone - and if I can be of any help feel free to email me! I am SOOOOOOOOO happy I've had this done, and can't wait until I start seeing the results!

(((hugs))) to all you Sept bandsters - Here's TO THE NINES!!! (Or what name did we end up being??)

Love,

Brenda

I can feel the LUV! : )

I feel really good. Let Kathy know I'm doing fine. It was really helpful to talk to you before the operation. And thanks for the awesome websites!

Doc said I could drive when pain meds are weaned off - I'm shooting for tomorrow! I can't wait to leave these 4 walls and actually GO SOMEWHERE - might venture off to a bookstore to find a recipe book on bariatric meals - especially the LIQUID stage!

Sorry I didn't see this post until now. I'm banded +3 days now and feeling pretty strange. It's still the general ache, but keeping stuff down is a challenge. Anything except Water seems to want to gurgle back up. I am sure this will subside, but a strange sensation for now.

Swelling is going down and have had a unexpected amount of energy the past 2 days. Walked a mile yesterday (that was too much) and .5 mile today. Will try to extend that a bit this week.

Go niners!!! Keep up the great work!!!

I just heard of this site from a relative and wish I had found it sooner. I'm due for my lap band THIS WEDNESDAY, the 26th of September. I am getting a little nervous, but also quite excited!

Would love to talk to people that are also going in around the same date -

Brenda

Brenda,

We are lapband anniversary buddies. I was also banded Sept.26! Wishing you a healthy new life! :straight

Way to go Chris! I can't believe you walked a MILE that close to surgery! I've been just strolling up and down my neighborhood. I think I may try to walk for a 1/2 hour tomorrow after my daughter goes to school. I find I tire easily - need to get my Protein in - just don't feel like eating it.

Are you eating only liquids post-op? My doc requires it - I know every doc is different. But if you are having trouble keeping things down it could be due to the swelling - I mean you were JUST banded this week!

Don't forget to get some rest to let your body heal. Good luck - although with your determination and will, you're not going to need any luck.

Hi. I was banded on Sept 6th and have already lost 20 pounds. However, I am looking forward for my first fill as I am still starving!

I have been able to drink Protein Drinks, creamy chicken Soup, Jello and of course, lot of h2o. I don' have any gurgiling up, but it does hurt a little when I burp, like a pressure feeling. I am so excited!

Brenda - I was also banded on 9/26 - how cool! I also gained weight while I was in the hospital and was so incredibly bummed when I stepped on the scale. Sound like you are doing well. I still how low energy at times but I am healing well and off the paid meds.

I just got banded on September 25th! Okay so maybe I managed to puke up EVERY pain med given to me, so there was a little (okay a LOT ) of pain for a bit but now I feel just a little sore...otherwise FABULOUS!

I am honestly sooo excited I got this done. And I can't wait to meet new friends that'll help me through it!

Smiles ;)

Brenda

Bren,

Yeah, only liquids, popsicles and today I had hot cocoa and chicken broth. Something pseudo-salty or at least with some taste.

I've got to tell you that I'm going batty just "healing" - My wife is ready to kill me. I keep doing the dishes and cleaning the front room. I tried to explain to her that this is normally time I'd have been eating.

I do find that the burping (not the PB - I've had a few of those) but just the burping that feels a little like heartburn or just a bad belch - that's getting annoying.

I can't seem to find a comfortable way to sit/stand/lay where it's not a problem. Is there something I can take? I tried a tums the other day and I think I had too many (I had 2...) maybe if I take just 1/2?? Dunno.

Thanks for the kind words!! Honestly, my energy level hasn't been a problem - I've been too energetic to where I think my body has needed me to slow down. - but I'm just so damned excited about this new tool. I want to be healed and skinny like yesterday...

Hey to you luvtolaugh! I always say, "When Irish Eyes Are Smilin', they are usually up to something!" I do love to laugh, but not with 4 day old stitches. :) There is so much on these forums, still getting my feet wet and poking around different threads, figuring out what to read, where to post, it's a lil overwhelming. AND getting used to a new Notebook PC my hubby bought to use while I'm recouperating. Nice meeting you!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
