I was sleeved 3/25/16. My start weight was 306 before preop diet. Now I am 258. I have about 30grams Protein a day. Have difficulty with Water. My usual day: breakfast- Greek fat free whipped yogurt with 2 spoons of granola. Lunch- any type of Soup. Dinner- can be anything. What ever I cook for family. But I do eat fruits. Any sample menus?

Oh, Lord -- another person who thinks that losing nearly a pound a day equates to "weight is not going down."

How in the world do people develop such unrealistic expectations about WLS results?

My first four months post-op I averaged 10 pounds/month weight loss. And then the weight loss slowed.

I still lost 100 pounds and am maintaining now at 135 pounds.

This is not a bloody 50-yard dash. It's a marathon. And when you reach your goal it becomes a life-long lifestyle.

Sorry for the mini-rant, but I really don't understand why someone who's averaging 24 pounds lost / month is disappointed in WLS. That's an amazing weight loss.

You need more than 30 grams of Protein a day (closer to 80-100), and you need AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid a day.

None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience stalls and slow downs. If you are planning to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience different rates of loss and periodic stalls.

Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your protein and fluids, take your Vitamins and supplements as directed, exercise, and stay off the scale.

Embrace the Stall

Well I'd say you're doing pretty well considering you are down 48 lbs in less than 2 months. Anyway - you need to get all of your Protein and Water in - or not only will your weight loss stall but you will not heal properly. Be sure to check the sugar content on the Greek Whipped Yogurt (I bet it has a fair amount of sugar) and the carbs on the granola. Does the soup have Pasta or rice? How many carbs? Depending on what you're having for dinner - this could be an issue as well. You need protein and if you are still hungry - eat produce. No Pasta, bread, rice, etc. 30 grams of protein is definitely too low.

Your issues are very easy to fix......You need to be getting 60-80g of Protein and minimum 64oz Water. Those are the two most important elements to losing weight. Nix the granola and sugary yogurt and fruit and replace all of them with high protein foods.

If it makes you feel any better....I was sleeved on 3/23, two days BEFORE you, and you still lost more weight than I have.

As others stated, make sure you get in your Protein, but I would be ecstatic with 48 pounds!!

Good job!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
