Can a Icee stretch your pouch

Recommended Posts

You continuously bring up your married friends and your sisters as representation of ALL sleevers and ALL bypass people. Trust me. They aren't that at all. I'm living proof.

I have 2 friends that are married one had the sleeve one had gastric bypass the one with the sleeve can eat small portions of anything and she eats badly like she always did.

Cmon people, this is a waste of time. We're arguing with someone that believes something is a fact if they read it on the Internet. They are basing their entire belief system on one doctor's advice and a couple relative's experiences. There is absolutely no scientific evidence to support her statements, multiple examples disproving her claims have been provided, and yet that doesn't deter her. She's 4 weeks out of bypass and truly believes she's an expert on WLS.

Imagine someone who read all kinds of stories about flying airplanes. Maybe even studied a flying lesson manual. They've been a passenger on several planes and hell, even got to sit in the cockpit when they were 8 years old. Would you be arguing over whether or not this person was qualified to pilot the 747 you are about to board? No you'd proclaim that was crazy and head back to the terminal.

I think straws are a great tool to get your Water down easily. The only issue with straws I see is that you can drink a lot quickly which early on can mean a little pain, if you don't want yourself.

I accidentally used a straw once eating out, and once I didn't burst into flames and die, I realized it made drinking Water so much easier.

Hi everyone, I'm 8 weeks out and I was a kids bday party and they gave out soda flavored Icee's I new I shouldn't drink it but I did

And the next day I was hungry (which ever since my surgery I didn't get to hungry)

I also noticed my food seemed to go down easier..... IDK maybe Im paranoid and my mind is playing tricks on me.

Does anyone have a similar experience?

Sipping through a straw causes ulcers?

WTF? How?

@@VSGAnn2014

Drinking straws CAN give you an ulcer!

Here's how.

Drink through a straw. Post about it on the internet in surgical weight loss forums. Get really aggravated at the militant people that chastise you for drinking with a straw. Create extra stomach acid due to that aggravation. Develop an ulcer.

:)

You couldn't burst into flames by using a straw, you were drinking a liquid which would have doused it.;)

"Poorly uninformed" actually means well informed, it's a double negative.

Slow down when writing. Correct grammar, usage, and spelling goes a long way in presenting oneself as knowledgeable in a written forum like this. It's hard to understand each other otherwise.

If you have gastric bypass please just ask your doctor about the straw. I would listen to him not veteran sleevers. There is more information on it online from doctors which include the ulcer comment. But it is better to just ask your doctor. I have a feeling if I brought back a doctors note on it. I would still be called a liar. Haters going to hate. Personally I could careless if you stretch your pouch or get an ulcer. I tried to warn you. Again this is to gastric bypass.

You go girl.

That's how you do it.

Jess9395

Please do what ever you want to do. My doctor is who I will listen to him and my nutritionist. I was just telling the poster what I was told when I had surgery. I agree the article did not say anything about ulcers. But again that is what I was told by my doctor. I do not have heartburn either never have yet he told me to take the medication anyways to prevent ulcers.

Maybe surgeon are different.

Thank you.

I think following our doctors is certainly the way to go.

Otherwise, one could find themselves following the ramblings of some ill informed idiot on the internet.

Oh....and the only thing that's given me heartburn since my sleeve surgery has been ignorance like I've read in this post.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
