Shrink stretched pouch after pregnancy?

Recommended Posts

I've been so hungry during this pregnancy. I'm 2.5 yrs post op gastric sleeve, lost 135 lbs, only 20lbs from goal when I got pregnant. I've only gained 12 lbs and I'm 7 months along. I eat really really healthy, but I stopped measuring portions months ago. I just pulled out a 1cup measuring cup and panicked because i realize I've been eating 1.5 to 2 cup portions. And I'm not in pain when I do it. So I'm freaked out! Anyone know if I can shrink my pouch again? Most worried about it once I deliver. It's just I've been so hungry with this baby, she is definitely requesting more food. Or should I start reducing portions now? I know we aren't doctors here, just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences.

I know I've been told that your stomach will shrink down to what you eat. So if you start measuring out your one cup portion sizes again, your stomach should shrink back down to that and you should start feeling restriction again.

How did you go with reducing portions? Recently pregnant and worried about the same!

I did reduce my portions and I'm definitely not has hungry as I was when pregnant. However, I don't get those stomach pangs when I eat too much or are too full anymore, so that's a downfall. However my babe is only 6 weeks so maybe over time with a shrunk, smaller pouch I'll get that part back. Fingers crossed because that was a great tool for me too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
