So I took the gauze off from my surgery yesterday and there is an obvious bump from where the port is....

I was thinking it was because althought i am very overweight i dont have that much fat around my ribs and thats where the doctor placed it ...

also I know the doctor told me he had to place it higher because I was younger and haven't had kids or something like that...

but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if it goes down some or anything?

My lump where my port is was more obvious right after surgery. You have to remember that you are still swollen on the inside. Most likely it will look better once your swelling goes down. Every time I have a fill I swell more at my port but it does seem to go down.

I agree, I think with time you'll be fine. I too didn't have much stomach fat so I had the mini, lowprofile port put in, it really makes a difference, it's much smaller and not as deep. Good luck and congrats on your need journey, you'll love it.

Hugs,

Sherri Jo

The bump I thought was the port post-op, was swelling from something else.

The swelling went away and now there's nothing visible from the surgery except scars. You can feel the port if you push into my stomach though (and that is very painful for me).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
