Anyone want to sell a copy of "Lap-Band for Life"?

Recommended Posts

I'd like to read this book - I've heard a lot of good things about it.

IMO - $18-20 is an expensive for a paperback!!

I checked ebay and a few used book sites but couldn't find it anywhere. Anyone have a copy they'd like to get rid of?

I can pay you w/ paypal and I have an account with UPS or will include $$ for shipping.

(If I can't find a used copy, is it worth the $20 ?)

Is that the book by Ortiz? If so, nope, not worth $20.00. But I doubt I would have paid that for the book anyway so maybe it isn't the same. If it is Ortiz' book it's an easy read, leaves out a lot of important info, and skims over much. But it gives a great history of Inamed and his way of doing things.

There really isn't anything in that book that you can't get and in more detail from banded people here.

If it isn't Ortiz' book, I haven't read it. I loaned my copy to a friend and haven't gotten it back yet. I rarely get books back that I loan. ;)

Anytime you want to find used books (and new) or out of print, check out AddALL book search and price comparison. It's a list of thousands of book sellers and you can search a title or author name. Then you can see all the sellers that have that book available. Of course, there is always Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more for used books as well.

I read this book and was unimpressed. but there is a great series for people with bypass that has loads of information that could be usefull to banders. portion wise and lifestyle changes. its from bariatric associates I think I'll have to ask my nutritionist I borrowed it from her.

I got Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies and thought it was quite interesting. I read it after surgery and after I had been on the forum for several months so a lot was old news, but would be good reading for a newbie, uninitiated.

Thanks guys

I'll probably skip it. I've been all over this forum for almost a year, in addition to a few other sites. Sounds like it would just be repetition for me.<O:p</O:p

I'd love to sell it to you, if you're still interested at all, since I read it about 3 times through leading up to and after my surgery. I also have Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. $15 for both, plus shipping?

Honestly, I think you are doing the right thing. Save your money for something farrrr more useful. Get your surgery, lose weight and write your own book, there ya go!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
