Thank you for writing this!!!! Can I PM you? I'm also a low BMI. 33. Very similar weight and height to you. I'm getting sleeved on July 7th. I have all kinds of guilt too. I've been overweight my entire life. But on the lower BMI side. I just can't seem to lose weight anymore and it's just gonna get worse. I am still young and want to put this behind me!!!!!! But I have 3 children and also feel like this is optional. Im starting to freak out as its getting so close.

So I finally got my date Sept 14th...yay!!! But to qualify for insurance I have to stay at above 190 to keep my bmi above 35. I'm currently just over 36.This is a little annoying because I want to start implement healthy habits now but can for fear I won't qualify.

How tall are you? And that's a bummer! It was self pay, so glad I didn't have to deal with that. I was BMI 33. A week ago when I got it done.

It's honestly going a lot better than expected. First 24h suck. By 48 you still hurting pretty good. I came home day 3 and went to work day 4. I'm EXTREMELY tired and that part is annoying. It's definitely a mental game. There's a depression about being so bored around not being able to eat. Ppl say you will regret the surgery until you don't. I have not had one regret. I knew it wasn't gonna be easy, so I prepared myself. I did a week of Clear liquids. Started full liquids today. Incisions are healing well. Pain is much more like being bruised than terrible now. I'm very surprised with my weight loss for being low BMI. I was 195.8 day of surgery 201 when I left the hospital since they pump you full of fluids and I was 183.2 this AM. So a 12.6 lbs from surgery date and 18 from the post op.

That's awesome for the intial weightloss. It also good to hear you went back the 4th day. I will have started my semester already for school and can't take too much time off. Dr. Suggested 2 weeks but I don't have that time to be sitting at home.

Also I'd the depression bad or more just an extended food funeral?

My BMI when I met with the doctor for the first time was exactly 35, but I didn't have any diagnosed comorbid conditions, though I suspected I had sleep apnea. My reason for wanting to do the sleeve was because of my history of breast cancer. My doctor got me set up with a sleep specialist, but made it clear I *COULD NOT* lose any weight until after I was weighed in for my sleep study, or I would not qualify for surgery. However, he also did not want me to gain any weight either. ;-)

Oh yes, I have very severe OSA and am basically dying in my sleep 100+ times a night. I spend 80% of my sleep time with my oxygen sats below 82%. Nice! No wonder I'm freaking exhausted all.the.time!!!

Anyway, I just have one more visit with my dietician then I will be submitted for insurance approval next month. I'm hoping to have my surgery done in early November.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
