Any Seattle/Tacoma Sleevers with surgeries approaching?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I live in Federal Way and have surgery scheduled 31May. I'm very excited. Anyone else having surgery soon?

I also live in Federal Way and just had my surgery June 20th.

Hi, ACJordan! I hope you are doing well. I live in Edgewood and take my kids to school in the Federal Way area. Maybe we'll have enough people in this area that had surgery in June to form an unofficial support group!

Hi!! Yes, I'm doing much better, thanks. How are you doing so far? Did you go to St Francis?

An unofficial support group would be great!

Camber, count me in for a local support group! I'd love live talk with people at the same stage!

I'm feeling really grateful right now that my recovery is going well. (Knock wood.) I was pretty fit before surgery so that likely helped (my surgeon said it would). Alas, I likely won't lose weight nearly as fast as others, but I figure I'm only "competing" against my own former self, right? We are ALL gonna get healthier!

@@ACJordan, I was at St. Francis too! Every day I seem to feel better. My biggest problem now is the soreness and fatigue but I know that will get better with time.

Kadie777 and ACJordan perhaps we can meet up on a day we are all free and feeling good? Hilariously, I can't think of anywhere to go. Whenever I meet people it is almost always at a restaurant of some sort. I can see a lot more is going to change than just my weight, lol!

I know I always meet at restaurants lol. But, Panera will make you a cup of the broth from their delicious chicken noodle soup!

I work in Seattle and am a single Mom so the best time for me is on the weekend when I'm not trying to be superwoman.

Me too (single mom, living in Seattle, work weekdays, that is). @@Camber, weekend late mornings work well for me. I like the idea of meeting for broth (Panera or pho). Yay!

Weekends work best for me too or any weekday after 0730 pm. I love pho too!

I'm free Sat. July 2nd. Sunday I'm working. I've never had pho before. Maybe time to try new things!

I went to a graduation party today and I found it incredibly difficult to be in an environment where I normally ate a ton for the sake of socializing and now could only have liquids. The smells and watching people eat my favorite foods was awful.

I'm definitely seeing now how much I was eating for fun and comfort and not because I was hungry. I knew it was true before but now is really hitting home. I wanted to eat cake and lumpia so badly!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
