10 months out - Energy all of a sudden gone and sleepy... .

Recommended Posts

I am a sleever 10 months out, everything is great, weight dowwn about 70 lbs, workouts great 4 to 5 days a week... all is good...

All of a sudden last week my energy is zapped and I am sleepy in morning and middle of day when I am normally up and my most productive times of the day. Can't understand what happened all of a sudden, it is like I just crashed...

I take a Multivitamin and a Vitamin D pill, last visit to doc last month all bloodwork was great... again all of a sudden I am sleepy, this is not my norm, am I missing some sort of Vitamin all of a sudden?

Are you getting enough rest? Are you working out too much? That is what happened to me. I was just going to hard for so long and then my body just got tired. Maybe you need to take a few days off and rest your body.

You know, I starting increasing my rest, working out 3 days a week, skipping Tuesday and Thursday, believe it or not I do like that better. So I like that feeling, but as far as energy it is still zapped and I'm sleepy during morning and during the day... really weird since for last 9 months I have been a bottle of Energy....

Are you getting enough Protein? Fluids? Carbs?

Have you talked to your NUT?

Maybe you are getting sick? The flu is late this year in the US.

Haven't talk to NUT yet... My Water intake may be too low, I wll try that immediately, will measure consumption. My Protein intake is roughly 100 grams, I still got a low protein reading in my last bloodwork...

How long ago was the blood work done? Even though it looked good then extreme fatigue can be a sign of low Iron.

You know it could be iron... I stopped taking it 1 month in... EXTREME constipation.....

My Multivitamin is the one without iron.... I will look into it, if it's Iron I will take it, no way around it if i need it... very possible....

Make sure you're eating enough carbs for the amount of exercise you're doing. All carbs are not bad. They're necessary for all bodies. Fruits, vegetables, some grains--like oatmeal--are important for a healthy lifestyle. Especially if you exercise so much.

Okay I will, believe me I don't avoid carbs for the most part, my twisted notion is if I avoided them all when losing in this phase than when i went to eat some after this phase my body would react to gain weight because my system was voided for this period of time, just my notion...

My doctor told me the B Vitamins were the most important with sleeve. Take B12 and Folic Acid with your other vitamins.

It could be that you are not taking in enough nutrients-protein, carbs, overall calories to sustain your body's needs. I just went through something similar here at 6 months where I wasn't getting enough and I was falling asleep all the time and I would have crushing Migraine like headaches every afternoon. My weight loss also stalled out and I felt really just ill. My blood work was all good, just like yours so I asked my NUT for help, but she didn't really offer me anything except when my weight first stalled she cut out my carbs which made me even more tired and more ill. So after talking to several people on here, I went rogue and bumped my Protein, carbs, and calories up and now my weight is melting like butter and I'm not tired anymore. It might be something to think about.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
