What if I hadn't done this?

Recommended Posts

I answered 'of course I'd do it again' in another post, but I often think of what if I NEVER had the lap band.

I'd be at my heightest weight STILL.

I'd be looking at what NEXT program to try.

What ELSE should I spend my hard earned money on?

I'd be feeling all the negative emotions of self-defeat.

Wondering what to wear this summer.

I feel blessed, and yes I'd do it all over again, in a heartbeat.

What would you be doing and feeling if you had not had the lap band?

If I had not had the lap band, I would be laying in bed, trying to drum up enough energy to just get up and get dressed. I hated that the most. It seemed like such a choir to even shower!!!! I love my band!!

I'd be watching my children play, instead of playing with them. Quick kissing my husband before bed instead of making love. Living the life that I couldn't bring myself to admit was mine.

And it's only been 1 month and 33 lbs...

I love this thing.

I'm scheduled on Aug 23rd. I can't wait to add to the list! Everytime I think about the struggle ahead of me, I come here and get re-energized! Thanks for the inspiration... I'm so ready.

If I hadn't done this.. and this is only 4 months out..

-I'd still have my crippling back pain, and my body feeling 60 even though I'm only 23 (most important thing to me, and if I didn't lose another pound, it was all worth it.. well of course, if I never gained another pound either)

-I wouldn't be able to wear my 1st major goal pair of skinny jeans I've never been able to squeeze into..that I was able to wear today!

-I'm sure there will be more to come :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
