Was thinking about hot chocolate today in cold rainy and windy Chicago.... Nothing I could buy on my grocery shelves

If you have chocolate Protein powder, you can mix it with cold milk and then slowly heat it up. That way it won't clump.

Worth a try?

Valentina! Genius idea!!! That will hit the spot. I actually avoid my chocolate shakes- too heavy!- but this is a great way to use them! Thank you! It's like November here right now- damp and cold.

I've been enjoying coffee since my second month post-op.

Real coffee, too.

Very grateful for it.

Years ago there was a study that showed that coffee caused dehydration, and these results are often cited by nutritionists and doctors to this day. However, this was a small study, and numerous studies since then, have found no such association. Here is one recent study that found no link for moderate habitual coffee drinkers:

Wait a few days and check the news.......... Seems pretty much everything that was bad for you a few years ago, is now healthy. Even life extending. The kicker is the Docs seem to go along recommending whatever is flowing in the mainstream at the time. Go figure. Kinda like pushing whatever meds their suppliers are giving them the best deals on.

I used to think I could find out the facts if I did enough research. But as scientific results go......it usually ends up being only the results they were seeking, so no credibility there either.

I usually just recall the person or people I have occasionally seen on TV....... off in some remote area of the globe.....that

have been puffin on cigars since puberty or ate nothing but lamb everyday of their life and are sittin smugly smiling for the cameras at the ripe ole age of 103....with no end in sight. :P

That being said......I just bought me a Keurig and a huge variety pack of pods. ;) Enjoy

With approval from my surgeon and NUT, I drink 2 scoops of my Protein powder mixed with my Decaf coffee in the morning. It gets me going and gives me 50gms of Protein to start my day! (For this purpose,I choose cinnamon bun flavored protein) then I usually eat as normal (low carb-high protein) or sip on an Isopure throughout the day. I'm 8 months out and 127 lbs down! Good luck

@@UalreadyKnow where did you get the cinnamon bun flavor protein? Sounds great for my coffee.< /div>
I very much enjoy Iso 100 Protein Powder, I once read an article on here about how all the powders come with added glutamine and stuff like that, and "that"added protein comes from hair and fingernail particles. Ewwwwww, so this stuff is as clean as it gets no nails in my protein please it's pure whey isolate and tastes amazing IMO! I buy at nutri pro or Vitamin shoppe post-262002-14621426825929_thumb.jpg

My first drink 3 days post-op was a coffee with milk served in the hospital.

I thought that the choice of drink was a bit strange. Neither my surgeon nor NUT ever told me not to have coffee or to limit the quantity. I drink 2 to 3 "real & strong" coffees a day. I never experienced heartburn or acidity. I guess I am lucky.

I was drinking coffee 7 days out, with approval from my team. I'm sure it would be fine, just ask them maybe. :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
