I married a wonderful man. Loose skin is not an issue. We chase each other around like teenagers.

For me, I don't think the loose skin is going to be an issue. My fiance and I have been together for 13 years and he has seen me at my thinnest and my biggest and his feelings have not changed, nor has he treated me any different now that I'm very heavy. It's my opinion that any man worth his salt would do the same. However, he does worry about my health. I do plan to eventually get the skin removed when I get to that point but it's honestly because it would bother me and I want to feel good about myself. I would think that if you are big now and your partner doesn't care, then I doubt they will care when/if you have loose skin unless they have a particular attraction to bigger people... but that's another story.

Is it possible to not have loose skin at all? That is my biggest fear. I'm 5 weeks post op just started back at the gym - for cardio- will start weight training once I get Dr. Approval. I don't want surgery to remove it. Anyone here not need to get surgery to remove the skin? And just firmed it naturally?

I haven't had my surgery yet to tell you how much loose skin I have. I'm 29 but I'm so overweight and been overweight for so long that I KNOW I will have a lot of loose skin. I've dropped 30 lbs in the last month and a half and I'm already noticing it mostly on my inner thighs (which I'm still hoping will tighten up a bit because that is one surgery I really would like to avoid). It really depends on how heavy you are, how long you've been that heavy, how old you are and also genetics. It also depends on your exercise while losing the weight. Nobody can say for sure how much loose skin you might have but your chances of not having a bunch of loose skin are better depending on the above things I mentioned. I personally am going to expect the worst and hope for the best!

I am doing the same (expecting the worst and hoping for the best). I'd much rather have skin than fat. I'm much older so I doubt my skin will have much elasticity to it. I will probably have saggy boobs down to my knees! Lol.

Fear of the unknown.

I looked up photos of what loose skin would look like after weight loss. I understood this is a part of surgery.

I cant afford plastics.. I have the droopy skin and boobies..... There are worse things in life..

It's my cute " shar pei ness"

If he doesn't mind the fat then he most likely won't mind the loose skin, especially if he wants you to be active and healthy. It's easy to assume that other people have the same image of ourselves as we do but in reality, that's not always the case, especially when it comes to loved ones.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
