Surgery went well! Been up walking and just got back to bed. I'm just having a bit of gas pain but it's manageable

I was finally discharged this afternoon and am at home. I'm not having trouble getting fluids in but every time I drink, I get A LOT of gurgling in my sleeve. It doesn't hurt so I'm keeping at it but it's a weird/new sensation. Anyone else experience this?

Lol.. yes. I was told the gurgling never goes away?! Lol

I'm now day 4 and was so looking forward to starting a week of thin nutritious fluids. I've been drinking really well prior to this, no pain and easily reaching my Fluid goals. What happens? I got the foamies and it's most unpleasant. I feel as if I've an impassable lump in my throat and am retching foamy mucous. I'm so upset as I'm feeling quite weak and lethargic and know I need an energy boost that Opti would give me. I'm going to try an anti-histamine to see if that will dry me up a bit.

I don't think an anti-histamine in the best choice.....I'd lean more toward a anti-nausea med.....you could also call your doc's office and let them suggest something for you.

Day 1 post op and I'm feeling pretty good. I've been up walking, pain is under control, and the team is great! No complaints so far!

I went to a peer to peer meeting for the first time (I am post 1 year) and I could hear stomachs gurgling :P

Most of the people were at least 6-9 months post.

I think my own stomach started trying to compete, so NO the noisy, chatty, vocal tummy may blab for a while :)

I thought it was kind of funny and I don't think I was the only one who noticed ;)

@@Cathy48 I don't recommend taking an antihistamine. What your experiencing is normal if you drink or eat too fast. Once the swelling goes down it will be better. Take small sips and if you don't feel better - call your surgeon.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I'm following these threads because mine is coming soon on June 22nd. I am wondering what are foamies? Is this like rabies or something?

@@sgc Someone who's had surgery may have a better answer but I believe it is when you eat too fast and get a little backwash (from your stomach) - which causes grossness to happen like foamies (I imagine it's like really gross post nasal drip).

Anyone had to cough or sneeze and not braced yourself in time and felt like you'd busted something inside? Also, anyone having alien movements in the sleeve area?

I'm guessing I'm experiencing those alien movements as well. I've got crazy gurgling; almost every sip I take (and am taking small sips, no straw, resting between each one) results in a belch; and let's just say Constipation is NOT an issue. I've checked on other VSG sites I'm on and everyone says this is normal and all dies down, esp. by the time you get to soft foods.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
