May 16th surgery buddies?.....Let's do this together!

Recommended Posts

My seminar was last year. I have been working towards this for 14 months. I had to have a six month diet and then paper work was lost and other test needed done and they took forever to get scheduled. I am just glad I am at this point and have my surgery scheduled :)

So how long has it taken everyone to get to this point??.......I think a good indicator to use would be the initial seminar (I'm pretty sure everyone has to do that??)

My seminar was March 8th, so for me just a little over 2 months.....I know that's not as long as a lot of folks but it still feels like forever to me!

My surgery is on Thursday so I was going to take off the next week. I have plenty of time available to take but I would rather take time for something fun.

Same here! I can always work from my recliner....I will have to be in pretty bad shape to not be able to work!.....I'll save as much of my time as possible for fun stuff!!.

Took me 6 months. Depends on ur insurance. Some require 3 months nutrition and some require 6

Right, mine didn't require any supervised period, that's why I was able to do it in just over 2 months.

I went to an informational seminar back in October 2015, and my first appointment with the surgeon and dietician was December. I knew it would be about 6 months because of insurance. I'm just glad I finally am doing it!

Good morning May 16th sleevers.....Are we all ready to start our 2 week diets this morning? I was on liquids for the last two days and lost 5 lbs. My two week diet is not all liquid it's one Protein drink and two small low carb meal per day.....I just did the two days of liquids to sort of kick me off to a good start. It wasn't too bad......but then again it was only two days!

We can do this!!! I found a cool app where you can track all your food and Water and all you have to do is scan the bar code on stuff....it's called Baritastic. You can track everything, food Water, weight, exercise.....and it has a timer for eating and drinking for post surgery. Check it out if you haven't already. It's free!!!

I had my first visit with the Dr. on March 16th and got my schedule date on April 18th. So total 2 months from first visit to surgery.

I started my liquid diet ( all shakes with Jello, broth) this morning. I think day 2-4 might be the worst but we shall see. I will probably be on here midweek for some get me through this liquid diet support. :)

I am working from home that week of my surgery so I can sleep when I need too. I will be unavailable when I need to rest and will work when I am coherent. :D I will be back in the office the following Monday but I am at a desk all day with no lifting or moving if I don't want to. (I will be hitting the gym at lunch to get my walking in)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
