My surgery is tomorrow. I have had two surgeries prior to this, both were on my mouth. This will actually be a shorter surgery but much more invasive and I am terrified. I keep telling myself that I can continue the way I am going now and be guaranteed a short, miserable life.

I guess it's a minor victory that I haven't sought out comfort foods.

Chances are pretty darn good that you will be just fine. My sleeve surgery was my first surgery ever so I had no idea what to expect. The surgery was the easiest part of the whole process for me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, recovery, and progress so far.

You are going to have a fabulous life!

Best of luck tomorrow. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Pre-op nerves are very, very common. Nobody can promise you that everything will go perfectly with your surgery, but the odds of it not being are lower than you getting hit by a car on your way to work.

If you still wake up terrified in the morning, tell the pre-surgical and the surgical team you're scared. I promise they've talked with many, many more terrified preop patients than those of us who rolled into the OR with "Let's get this party started" (I actually did that. But my sleeve was my ninth surgery, not my first).

Good luck tomorrow. Let us know how you do!

My sleeve was my first such medical procedure...

Even playing football and 'bouncing/cooling' in pubs, I'd never been unconscious before...

To say I was scared would be quite the understatement...

As it turned out, it was all unfounded...

And I'm sure that by this time tomorrow, you'll be saying the same thing...

Good luck to you @@Kooky1

I think that it is perfectly normal to be nervous about surgery. I certainly was. In the end, I thought that the risk was higher not having the surgery and staying at my beginning weight than the low chance of a problem during the surgery. The surgery worked out well for me and I have been happy every day that I did it. I would not change a thing.

Best of luck with the surgery. Between the pre-op process and diet and the nervousness ahead of the surgery, you are already through the toughest part.

I will continue update this thread with my journey.

I know I will likely stall around my birthday ( 5/31/16). With it beings my birthday, I usually get a ton of free meals which I won't be getting them this year and hopefully for the years to come.

Instead, I think I am going to have a spa say which will include a lymphatic massage, a 45 minute session in a steam room (water!!), and ultrasonic machine that is supposed to with the breakdown of cells and aid in removing toxins. My theory (totally cosmetic) is that this may help with the stall by getting the toxins out.

Has anyone tried lymphatic massage before?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
