@@tagyourit I know what you mean. Had to take that iv bag everywhere. Not to mention the blood pressure cuff also. Glad to be home. Now take it easy and heal up. :) Do you have a drain?

My surgery was June 16th. Im still in hospital but going home today. Everything has went well. Just dealing with nausea. I have a drain which I was hoping I wouldn't. My dr recommends I go home with it until my post op visit.

I have only had broth and Jello and both tasted horrible, but sipping my Water. Good luck to everyone :)

I also had mine on the 16th and am drinking a Protein Shake that my surgeon said if that goes well, I will get to go home today as well! Congrats on doing well, it's still kind of surreal to me the thought that it's done and am on "the other side." Do you feel that at all too?

Yes, I can't believe it's done after all the waiting. Now we can start this new journey! I can't get much down but nothing has come up either. We have to give ourselves time to heal. Do you have a drain? My dr put one in. Not too happy that I have to have it until my post op visit. But he says it's just a precautionary thing. Glad you are doing good. Feels so much better to be in your own home. You will be home soon.

Surgery was 6/6/16 and went well. Surgery started late (scheduled for 11 AM didn't go back to OR until 1 PM). Of course by then I was hungry and thirsty! Was in recovery for 2 hours then taken to my room at 6 PM. I sent my boyfriend home at 9 since I was just drifting in and out. Got up to use the bathroom with assistance at shift change about 8 PM. Had the nurses help me to the restroom each time they were in to do meds and vitals. Got up to walk on Tuesday. I did well with the Water and had my popsicle each meal. After the initial bowl of broth I couldn't even stand the smell of it. It was soooo salty. Walked a couple of circles around the unit Wednesday and took a shower. Felt better after the shower. Dr released me 6 PM Wednesday. Picked up prescriptions and got home. Spent Thursday & Friday taking it easy. The pain killer knocked me out so I was napping every 4 hours.

Pain was not horrible but definitely uncomfortable for sleeping. Have just been sleeping overnight the last couple nights without any Tylenol. I get to start blended foods tomorrow and it's back to work Monday. Overall, happy with the results. Already down 18 pounds! Since I have not been able to lose more than 5 and then put it and more back on for over 20 years I am overjoyed! I can't wait until it is really visible!

To all those with surgery upcoming, prayers for an easy recovery and the quick passage of time prior!

No drain for me. I am excited to have the surgery over with but have had a few moments in the past 2 days about if I made a huge mistake. I know I didn't but my emotions are running on full steam. I think I will start to feel better as swelling goes down and I start to feel like myself.

Hi...

I just joined these forums today - Nice to meet everyone!

My surgery is tomorrow morning and I'm slightly terrified, lol.

I should have joined these boards ages ago, but life has just been really busy.

So since I have plenty of time off now, I guess today is as good a day as any.

Good luck to the rest of the June club! :)

-Kammy

My all day preop (when I type preop on my phone it autocorrects to Oreos). Tomorrow and I've been a good girl on preop diet but damn I want a cheeseburger! I'm 6 days from surgery and starting to freak out.

I had mine June 9th. Spent one night in the hospital and was out 9pm the next day. At first I felt pretty crappy, but within a few days I was off of the pain medication. I had a drain for a week. It was a little uncomfortable and prevented me from sleeping on my right side which meant minimal sleep. Once that got removed I felt a whole lot better. Getting frustrated with my diet, though. They have me on four weeks of full liquids (should be three, but couldn't get an appointment any closer to the 3 week mark.. ugh). With the 2 week pre-op diet I lost 15lbs. Since surgery I've lost an additional 15lbs. Can't argue with those numbers, I guess. Just looking forward to something that isn't a Protein Shake, Crystal Light, Popsicle or Jello though.

@@Moogle I hear you. I'm only 5 days post op but have a drain until July 6th. I'ld feel wonderful if that was gone lol I am also on all Clear Liquids and shakes until July 6th. Just want some other flavor or something. Tired of the sweet shakes but gotta do it. :) Did it hurt to remove the drain? That is the only pain I seem to have is where the drain is.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
