Im sleeving may 13. I seem to have lost the will to control eating. Gained some weight in the last two weeks. Did anyone experience this. How do i get the mental shift i need?

Like many of us, you are addicted to food. You are an addict and so the behavior is not uncommon. Now the key thing to note is that you must take control after your sleeve or else you will risk failure. The sleeve is just a tool. You can use it properly or you can cheat and get around it's restriction. So use this as a learning lesson.

One thing that I considered which helped me, is that I didn't *need* to eat things one last time, because I had already eaten favorite foods, too much and too many times, that was why I was landing in the operating room! At some point you need to say that enough is enough and stop, and preparing for your surgery is a very good time.

Very well said.

Don't have food funerals. You will be able to have any of your favorite foods after you reach your goal weight and maintain that.......in small portions.

You may not ever want them again after you see what life without excess junk food does for you. The cravings for them will be gone and you'll see how lean you have become once you cut them out.

Gaming weight now is very dangerous and is an indicator that you may not be ready to make the changes needed for surgery and th new life. It is going to take effort from you. Effort and discipline.

A new life awaits. It begins now....before the surgery. Time to rally.

Stick to the plan and journal your daily food, Water, Protein and exercise quantities so you can see what you are doing correctly and what you need to improve on. Also measure your foods and record Snacks and grazing.

The digestion process is not quite over yet, wait until "this too shall pass".

I'm doing the same thing, eating and drinking wise. I'm even eating things I normally don't even go for. I definitely have this voice saying "it's your last chance!" I'm more aware of it, so I'm definitely working on curbing it. What were your successful mental processes to break this? I see a therapist already, but she's not focused on eating issues or behavior therapy.

I certainly understand the feeling of saying good bye to certain food. I personally have found that many of these foods while they taste good are not worth eating. I have been writing everything down that I eat and by doing that I really see how I tend to over eat and understanding that that is part of my problem. Understanding the nutritional value of theses food has opened my eyes to the changes I have to make to be successful. So as I head closer to my pre opt diet I feel ready to make changes for a healthier life.

I'm sort of doing this.....but not really. My issue right now is I have to make sure I don't loose any weight until after my final appointment on 4/25. I just have to make sure I don't fall below a 40 BMI.......I'm at a weight right now that I would normally be dieting and trying to loose weight.....it's a very weird feeling to eat like I do right now. I'm actually looking forward to 4/25 so I can start my pre-surgery diet. I'm very uncomfortable and so ready to start getting rid of some of this weight!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
