Ideas to keep wedding ring on

Recommended Posts

So my ring now falls off, I don't see any point in getting it resized just yet as I have just begun my journey but any ideas on adjustable band things. I have seen some clips but they don't seem like you can keep tightening them. My current ring size is an 11, my pre-fat days I wore a 7, so I suspect I will need something very adjustable.

What a great problem to have, right? I have the same problem - I wear a smaller band on the outside to keep my engagement ring and eternity band from falling off.

I'm just using $3 ring guards (put on by a jewelry store) to keep my wedding rings on my fingers.

I told hubby I'd like to wait until my second surgiversary (this August) to get those resized.

I also have a gorgeous, large David Yurman ring I now wear on the middle finger of my right hand -- and it shows up better there anyway -- which I won't have resized.

Yeah that's smart not to get resized too early. I did that and still haven't taken mine back to be resized again since I hit goal months and months ago. I really need to do that, becuse I haven't been wearing my rings at all for fear of losing them and I feel naked without them ;)

I have the same problem but I am not complaining! I couldn't wear my rings for awhile. About 6 weeks Post op started wearing them again. I am almost 4 months and they are getting loose. Thanks for the ring guards idea! I agree I need to wait to resize. Congrats on your skinny boney fingers!

Roll the "bottom" of your ring through a glob of hot glue. As the glue cools, it will leave an invisible ring guard that won't scratch your ring nor your finger. If you ever want to permanently resize your ring, the hot glue will peel gently off.

The hot glue idea is genius!

My John used to set all of David Yurman's diamonds. Some of David's pieces are truly stunning. Enjoy it!

My genius idea came to me one day when I was working on a project with my usual "astuteness" and dropped a glob of hot glue onto the shank of my mother's ring! By the time I got the hot mess off my burned finger, it had cooled around the shank and I had a resized ring! Yep, I'm a genius!!! :)

I love the hot glue idea! I just removed my wedding ring because it became way too tight (I'm just beginning my journey here). My jeweler had told me that most rings can only be sized down 2 sizes. So some of us may be looking at replacing the ring with a big weight loss. Mine is so small I think it will be OK when I reach my goal weight. I just wanted to share that sizing info with you all.

I am in the exact same boat but like others I refuse to get my ring re-sized until I am at the maintenance phase of my journey. I actually just went to Walmart and bought a fake ring to wear. It gaudy and had a huge fake diamond in it... but you don't have to buy the gaudy one like I did :)

I don't really care if I wear my ring or not, I'm married in my heart so to me it doesn't matter but my husband gets weird about me not wearing a ring. I do it mostly to please him. It cost me a whopping $8 and it's really shiny, who doesn't like shiny!

I just didn't wear mine until I was at goal for over 6 months and then I had them resized and redipped so they look brand new. I am so bad now because I go to crossfit I hardly ever wear them and my rings are beautiful.

Mine are in my jewelry box until I am at goal. I don't wear much jewelry anyway and ALWAYS take my rings off to ride my horse. 25 years ago I was riding, the horse I was on tripped and both of us went down. I banged my left hand pretty badly and it swelled instantly plus I cut my finger. Hubby had to come a half hour to the farm with tools to cut them off. If not I was going to the ER to have them cut off.

You could get a cheap temporary ring to wear on your finger and put your real ones on a chair to wear around your neck.

I'm currently wearing my wedding band on my middle finger (not sure what message that sends, haha). I haven't been able to wear my engagement ring for months. Right now I'm waiting for hot weather to have them sized, because my fingers always swell in the summer, and I don't want them to be sized too small.

I had mine resized after I lost 100 lbs because when I asked my husband how he would feel if I stopped wearing it for awhile since it was too big he seemed to prefer that I keep wearing it. Now I've lost 20 more pounds and may need to get it resized again since it keeps spinning on my finger. At least it's not falling off though!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
