I started in January at 386. Surgery was 3/31 and I was 352. Today I weighed in at 337.

Thats great that you don't need a scale, but it's how I hold myself accountable. And I like those scale victories!!! Every 5 pounds down makes me so happy. But I don't compare myself to others...that just creates unwanted stress! As long as I am equal or less every week I have a huge smile on my face! And don't forget those NSV, fitting into a new size of pants makes me ecstatic too!!! Good luck and enjoy your weight loss!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You know you gain sometimes too, right? And sometimes the scale doesn't move for weeks at a time? I can already tell you're going to let the scale dictate whether you feel successful or not. Be careful. That's a slippery slope.....

Weight loss with WLS is funny. It's not as Fluid and consistent as you think it's going to be. Our bodies are constantly adjusting to the abnormal lack of calories, and it causes some really strange stuff to happen. One thing I've learned in the almost 20 months since surgery is that it's DEFINITELY not as simple as calories in/calories out. It's a constant balancing act trying to figure out the proper protein/fluid/movement ratio to lose consistently. And now in my case, to maintain.

Just sayin.

For my 1 week check up I lost 14 pounds and I could see some difference in my clothes. Nothing too crazy. But about 1-2 months out was when it sank in.

I had my surgery April 1, and haven't lost any weight. Is that normal?

I lost 16lb in the first 14 days, then stalled for 3.5 weeks. Recently restarted and have lost another 5lb. Also lost 28lb pre-surgery, so down 49lb in all.

Like Kindle said...Don't compare yourself to others. Follow the plan, (don't lie to yourself), and you'll lose weight. I have lost 75 lbs, in 3 months (mostly water/fluid), but weight loss nonetheless. On the liquid pre op, I've had one week of what's called a "stall". 800 cal/day, and no weight loss one of the week's. That is tough to swallow, but you have to stay focused. The next 2 weeks, I lost 17 lbs. Also...Weigh in once/wk...twice at the most. Don't obsess over the scale. Also...WATER..WATER..WATER...drink your Water. It's a challenge for me, but I get it done. Surgery on 4/18. My goal is another 175...I'll do it too. Wish me luck...and Good Luck to everyone on their journey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
