@@jane13, yes last june! I feel so much better, but lately I've stalled. I'm about 18 lbs away from my goal! But my brain doesn't see it. Maybe cause everything sags so much. :) I've also started craving things, not real hunger, so I googled what cravings meant and found charts with for example bread/pasta meant u needed more Protein and legumes, one said green leafy s too. Anyway thought it'd be worth a try! and yes, this last year was NOT easy but worth it. I have no regrets either!

So glad you are ok. Yes what you are experiencing is normal! It will get better but not overnight it all takes time. Each phase invokes new emotion. You will be able to take in more fluids but again it all takes time. The pain will subside. Give yourself time to heal both physically and emotionally. Each day is different from the next. One day I have a burst of energy the next I'm so tired I don't want to budge. No matter what remember your goal and continue to stay focused. We are all here if you need us. YOU GOT THIS!

It definitely gets easier. The first month is difficult, but the first 2 weeks are the hardest. Go easy on yourself. Rest as needed and walk, walk for gas and sip, sip to get in your Protein and Water. Best wishes.

Go get 'em @ heidiboo

You're on the verge of changing your life...

How cool is that???

You might try Gatorade..You need the liquid plus the electrolytes. I had to. I'm almost 7 months out and only 5 pounds from goal. Please push fluids before you get in trouble. Every 15 minutes sip an ounce or so. You got this..now sip sip sip

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
