What can I do with...berries?

Recommended Posts

We have a health food co-op in a nearby city that I have been meaning to find. There was a post on the Internet the other day that they were having a sale on fresh raspberries so it gave me an excuse to find it.

Now, I have quite a few raspberries (most of which are in the freezer).

They have been delicious added to my yogurt.

Other than Protein Shakes, what are some good, easy, healthy ways that you use fresh berries (especially raspberries)?

Quickies: Make a smoothie with some 1% milk and artificial sweetener, raspberry SF Jello w/some low fat whipped topping and raspberries on top, throw some in your oatmeal or on top of a nice mixed greens salad.

There are plenty of recipes out there on the internet; also others you can substitute raspberries for.

I love raspberries. I wonder if you could puree and then freeze them for a lovely Italian Ice type treat. Or (I have seen this when blueberries, not sure if it will work with raspberries) but coat them in yogurt and then freeze them and they are lovely little yogurt covered berry treats? Can't wait to see what ideas people come up with. I need to go find a farmers market..

I put a recipe for a berry smoothie at the end of the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf I love the stuff and the grandkids make numerous visits just to get some of it.

I'm making a blackberry balsamic chicken tonight. You might be able to do the same with raspberries. Found the recipe on Pinterest.

I like to mash raspberries into PB2 and lick it from a spoon as a treat. Yum!

Somebody may have already mentioned this, but a simple delicious treat for me (one that even my kids like) is to buy fresh organic blueberries, stick them in the freezer overnight, then just pull them out and eat them as Snacks. They don't freeze like a rock, as some fruits do, and they are a wonderful and super-healthy snack.....and it literally takes seconds to make...lol.

Or if you have a juicer that has a "blank screen" attachment, you can run the frozen berries through that, along with a frozen banana and have a 100% fruit sorbet....also delicious...and healthy!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
