Can I eat them? Did anyone eat lunchables at a month-6 weeks out of surgery? If a yes can I eat the crackers with it?

I wouldn't because they have too many carbs. Crackers are slider foods and the "meat" is highly processed. But if you do decide to eat them don't make a habit out of it.

You can make your own with better ingredients -- try going to the deli and get them to slice up some good meats and cheeses.

In a pinch, rather than lunchables, look for P3, string cheese, or meat and cheese roll-ups. They make decent pre-portioned Snacks.

I wouldn't. I'm not even the stickler for processed foods that a lot of people are and I still wouldn't eat them. The crackers would be a big no-no and the amount of preservatives and sodium? Yuck! I eat cheese and nuts for lunch almost every day now (I'm in maintenance, wouldn't recommend in weight loss phase because of the high calories). But the cheese I eat is real cheese.

I just looked up the nutritional info and they only have 11 grams of Protein. I aim for 16-20 each meal to meat my daily Protein target of 100 grams.

Oscar Meyer make P3 portable Protein packs.

I'm not sure what the vets think about them. I use them on the run. I don't eat the dip with the grilled chicken strips.

I don't have as many hang-ups about processed foods. But I would definitely prefer the 20+ grams of Protein for the same amount of calories from a Protein Bar when I'm on the run.

@jamielogical.... Could you post some example meals that get you to 16-20g of Protein? I know you are in maintenance but I would like to save for later. I am at the soft food phase and am struggling to get even 6 to 10... Thanks so much!!

I actually just posted a list of my recent lunches and dinners in another thread. Obviously at 19 months out, I have less restriction than someone earlier out. I'm allowed to eat all foods now. And my "cheese & peanuts" lunch that I often have is pretty high calorie, so I wouldn't recommend that until you are in maintenance:

I ate them for awhile because the pizza ones had 17g Protein and not really that many carbs, and one little pack ended up as two full meals. Now, I've moved on to Hillshire farms snack packs, because they have lots of Protein, even less carbs, and I can throw them in my lunch bag to take to school. I don't cook, I hate salads, and I love that I can still feel like I'm eating "normal people" food without a lot of fuss. They have thin toasted pieces that come with it, it's a small amount but it still gives you that satisfying texture/crunch.

Here is the nutrition info for it (and their various flavors/types are pretty much the same):

Calories: 300

Carbs: 12g

Protein: 17g

Sugar: less than 1g

Another vote for the P3 containers for when you are dying for a crunch.

The flavors are excellent, too. I'll grab a couple packs when I'm in the store and toss 'em in the fridge. Not an every day or even every week treat....but they are flavorful and not so awful bad for you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
