Got my new Fitbit Charge HR

Recommended Posts

So far my Charge HR has been pretty accurate on the steps.

Mine too. I have only noticed a few times that it did not register some flights that I did, but I'd rather it be under, than showing too many.

Yeah, mine was over counting by a few hundred at a time.
Yeah, that's not good! Did you get your Blaze?

Yes, I did and put it to the test earlier today. I spent part of my lunch 1/2 hour walking about a mile. Haven't walked in a REALLY long time and it doesn't help that I have a desk job. The most walking I'm getting other than the lunch break is taking the LONNNNGGGGG way around the building to go to the bathroom. LOL
Steps are steps, no matter how you get em in! It's all good!! :)

I'm in an emergency call center, so I'm not moving too much during my work day either. I keep my bottled Water down the hall in our break room. When I need another bottle, I take the long way, and go down/back up the stairs before getting it and heading back. If I don't have stuff to do on my lunch hour, I will walk around inside, or outside now that it is finally warming up!

The question of the day: Is it waterproof? Can you wear it swimming?

If you're looking for a waterproof tracker, check out the Garmin Vivosmart HR. I love it! It's completely waterproof so I don't even have to take it off to shower. It buzzes to remind you to move if you haven't walked a certain number of steps in an hour (great for me as I have a desk job and a tendency to get 'in the zone' and not move for three hours), you can have it push your mobile notifications to it, you can get your local weather, as well as the typical trackers like steps, stairs, and sleep! The Garmin Connect mobile app also has a super sleek interface and I love it!
I want one that is waterproof as I do a lot of kayak fishing. Does the Garmin track elevation as well? I do the stairs at work and want one that will track those steps too.

Thanks in advance.

I heard that! I promised the kids I'd take them to the amusement park this weekend if they get their chores done. If they do, I should get quite a few steps in. Lord knows I can't get on any rides! :)

My Water sits on my desk. I put a gallon in the freezer when I get in about 5:30-ish and I take it out an hour later. I drink right from the gallon. I'm classy like that. :D

I place my fitbit in a ziploc baggie and the place it in a small waterproof cellphone case when I do Water aerobics or swimming.

Also, I attach it to my shoelace when using the recumbent bike. I hate to lose steps so I've found ways to improvise. Hope this helps

I just bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR today. I researched and researched. I like this one because it tracks heart rate, floors of stairs climbed and is 100% waterproof.

My fitbit charge HR is Water PROOF.

It was ordered from Amazon and came with all of the documentation telling about how it is waterproof. I have worn it three times a week swimming since Valentines' Day without incident.

I do not know what you read but via Fitbit own website they say to NOT swim with it. It is Water and splash resistant only.

Read the specs on it.

I know. I have read and researched and actually called. I even sent pictures of the box that mine came in to Fitbit for clarification.

It clearly says, "Water proof", on two different places on the box as well as in the pamphlet that came with it.

When the Company asked me where it was purchased, I told them, "Amazon".

Like I said I've worn it everyday since my b'day--Valentines' Day--3/wk in the pool.

That's what I said.

It's a Fitbit charge HR, purchased on Amazon. I only called them to clarify any confusion only to end up more confused than ever. I saved the box and the pamphlet just in case there is any questions further down the road.

They wanted to know if I wanted to send it back in exchange for a new one that is Water resistant. Hell no!!

I love my Water proof Fitbit.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
