3 weeks post op and need feedback

Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks post op and I can only take in an ounce or two. I get full quick. So I drink my fluids in 2oz at a time. I'm literally drinking all day but I'm getting my 64 oz in! I'm having trouble with the puréed foods. I bought baby food, since I don't always have time to cool and purée regular foods. I spice them up a bit but no hot stuff. I tolerate that okay but I'm already tired of eating it. I did well drinking my Protein Shakes but now that I'm on purée, I'm finding it very hard to get my 60 gms of Protein in a day. I just cannot take in more than 1-2 ounces at a time. I get that "lump in your throat" feeling. Anyone have any suggestions?

I agree. Just keep sipping. It probably will take all day for a while.

I didn't have a puree stage, but does your food have to be puree? I would think something like Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, extra Protein shakes, or even refried Beans would be better than baby food.

Definitely talk to your NUT about your options.

It will get easier.

I'm also 3 weeks out and I can't even eat 2oz of anything! liquids are a bit better for me, so

I'm focusing on shakes as well. I eat, but I know I simply can't get my Protein from the food only eating 1 oz.

Hi There

I am 6 weeks post op and just this week was able to begin to eat more than 1 1/2 to 2 ounces at a time without pain. Your tummy is still healing internally and the opening that the food has to travel through is still swollen. I never thought the pain would go away and have 2 1/2 weeks of it I was really wondering "What did I do to myself" Follow the suggestions given about continuing to drink the Protein shakes and Soups and Water along with whatever little bites you can get down.

I unfortunately listened to my Dr who told me to cut back my Protein and I wound up gaining weight. So please don't do what I did. I have since lost the gain and am heading down again because I put back in the Protein Shakes and Soups.< /p>

Keep going strong it will get better.

Add either GENEPRO or powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein powder to yogurt, applesauce, Jello, Soup, and thats an extra 30gms of protien. My program calls for 80-100gms a day of Protein, and this powder has been great. I still use it and I am 7 months post sleeve.

I'm 8 weeks out and still can only eat 2 ounces of some foods. I can do greek yogurt, the triple zero. It will get better but it takes time.

Thank you all for the advice and support. It was very helpful! It's difficult to find palatable Protein drinks because I have a Casein allergy and its in everything!!! So absolutely no dairy. I bought Isopure unflavored and I add it to applesauce, etc...however it almost tastes like baby formula. I haven't tried unjury or gene pro yet.

Keep doing what you are doing! I definitely remember that stage! I think what you are doing sounds about like what I experienced. I couldn't believe how little I was able to eat/drink. Also, that's great that you can do Protein shakes. That will help get you some nutrients. I couldn't even stomach those.

The bariatric store on this website has a great pre digested Protein shot with 26 grams of protein in about 2 oz. Its called P2go - Proteinex. It tastes like strawberry Jello. It has been my saving grace!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
