I went to the Doc thinking I would have the RNY, but he kind of talked me into the sleeve. I do think you have to be more disciplined with the sleeve because I haven't found any food that I can't eat yet. His main concern was that I could have issues with the malabsorption related to my B-12 deficiency. He told me that at 2 years out the results were about the same for RNY and the sleeve. With RNY you loose faster in the beginning. I'm happy with my sleeve so far. 5 mos post op. I also liked the idea that I would not have to worry about dumping if I wanted a special sugar treat every once in awhile.

Same here, I previously had a band and the reflux was a nightmare so with the possibility of staple line leaks with a sleeve due to scar tissue and the reflux, my surgeon and I concluded that bypass is the op for me.

That's great your weight loss!! How was your pain after surgery??

I previously had a band which was removed two years ago and initially wanted to get a sleeve but my surgeon recommended RNY due to the very bad gerd that I had when my band was slipped/eroding and the likelihood of bad scar tissue which might mean leaks on the staple line of a sleeve.

Take your surgeons expert advice about which is better for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
