Purée Diet - I'm so lost

Recommended Posts

My doc has me on liquid only for 4 weeks, then

I move to 2 weeks of purée food, 2 weeks of soft food and then FINALLY onto a regular diet. So I'm 10 days post op and trying to start prepping for the next phase (a little early lol) but I just can't seem to figure out how this phase works.

I'm really nervous about this stage. I just can't imagine taking normal food and blending it up to eat. So I'm trying to think of things that already are considered purée like applesauce. But I can't live on applesauce for 2 weeks.....

I see that some are posting that they ate eggs.< /p>

So do I have to blend up the egg before I eat it?

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I'm just really nervous about this stage because I feel like I have no idea what to eat!!! Help!

Refried Beans

Cottage cheese

Soft scrambled eggs (mix with Water or milk and they are ok for pureed stage)

Mix all three above, add green chili and you've got a mini huevos rancheros...mmmm!

Hummus

Mashed potatoes with added Protein Powder

Mashed avocados with garlic and cilantro

Mashed cauliflower with melted cheese

Plain Greek yogurt flavored with Protein powder

broth, Cream Soups or any pureed Soup (without noodles or rice) with unflavored protein powder added....Split pea, butternut squash and French onion were my favorites

Pureed tuna fish with mayo (sounds gross but it's good)

Deviled ham

Ricotta bake (google it)

Still drank Protein Shakes through all stages to meet protein goals.

Greek yogurt, zucchini shreds, babybel light cheese, no sugar added applesauce, and black Beans.< /p>

And definitely cosign @@Kindle on the Protein Shakes. It's the only way i meet my Protein goals.

I have a mini chopper. I chopped everything but the scrambled eggs. They kinda crumble anyway.

Have you ever looked at "well chewed" food........It's pretty much "pureed" Some things that were already soft, I just chewed till it wouldn't chew anymore. Worked for me. You could always try Baby food. (yuk)

Can I ask how the ricotta bake is puree? I'm just wondering. It sounds so good and I start my puree stage March 13th. Thinking ahead lol

I put it in my mini chopper (mini food processor). After a while I no longer needed to chop it.

My favorite puréed meal was refried Beans mixed with a little taco seasoning with melted cheese. Sooooo good!

I looked up a lot of dip recipes on Pinterest and adjusted them to be lower in calories/fat.

I'm on purées and I'm 11 days out (sleeve). Foods that don't have to be pureed as per my nut are white fish (small bites), cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. Everything else must be pureed. I asked about the different fruits that may seem sift or if I thoroughly steamed broccoli. She said those have to be pureed because of the Protein fibers an that your tummy can't digest. At this point I am eating lots of milk and cheese. Looking forward to what others say. eggs made my tummy gurgle. Oh the ricotta bake, that was yum.

I did my version of chicken chili pureed. Worked out great and in the process we found something that can be used as a perfect dip for chips.

Did ground beef chili, made very hot no ill effects

Veggie beef Soup

Oikos mixed berry and strawberry yogurts.

Cottage cheese

Refried Beans with melted cheese

eggs well chewed

sugar free puddings and mousse

Wonton soup without the wontons

Mashed taters

Corned beef hash

Guacamole

Clam chowder

Potato soup

Salsa

Corned beef hash!! Thanks for that. That sounds like something I would like to try with an over easy egg and some salsa. I'll break up the can I to tiny potions and freeze them for another time. I'm excited to have this soon.

I've been on purees for 6 days now and I've yet to truly "puree" anything...it might help to think of it as a mushy food stage, in a way. I've been continuing a Protein shake a day (most days), greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, refried Beans with Laughing Cow cheeses, ricotta bake, oatmeal (yuck), grits, and very soft scrambled eggs (make with milk). So far I haven't been bored and it is SO much better than liquids! No one says you have to puree meat if you don't want to. ;)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
