Bra math - don't try this at home.

Recommended Posts

So a month or so ago I bought four new bras because my old ones were too big. The new size was 48DD. The only time I've been less than DD was when I got down to under 175 pounds, a VERY long time ago.

What the heck was I thinking - buying four bras?!?!?

Today, I put on the nice black one with little gold dots all over it. Raised my arm to put on deodorant and whoopsie... the bra slides up right over the girls. Not a good look.

I got out of work early because I finished a huge project and my boss was grateful and told me to take the afternoon off. Went to Catherines, tried on a 46DD. The band size was fine, the cups were far too small. Got a 46DDD and tried it on, fit perfectly.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

My girls have deflated. I almost have to start at the floor and roll them up and stuff them in. How in the heck did I go UP a cup size?????

That's bra math. Don't try this at home.

True bra math--

Cup size is relative to band size not absolute.

It's the number of inches of projection past the band size.

1" is an A cup

2" is a B cup

3" is a C cup

And so on and so forth.

So if you have a 32DD (that's my size) your chest is only 36". My husband keeps saying no way am I a DD but I am!

As your band size goes down your cup size may go up--even if it's just filled out by empty socks as mine were before my implants and lift! In fact my pre lift/implant size and my post bra size are almost identical!

And yeah... As I was losing I bought ONE bra at a time LOL

I held them up to each other, poked one cup inside the other... they looked exactly the same! It's like the Twilight Zone when you're trying on bras.

I'm never buying more than one bra at a time until this is over. Well okay 2 bras one regular and one strapless.

I went from a 48DD to a 42G. Everything is shrinking but my boobs are constant.

Bras are the most annoying thing. At $60 a pop they are a pain to replace very 3 to 4 weeks

Bra math hurts my brain. I did a bra fitting at Victoria secret. The correct size and fit helped keep the girls high and in place. ;)

My family Dr asked me today if I had a boob job. I told her no. The girls are tube socks. I have to roll and stuff them in to the cup's. Can't wait for my next mammogram. Laying them out on the plate to be pressed will be a piece of cake.

These were on sale, plus $10 off for signing up for text coupons, total was right at $20 each.

My bra sizes are a joke: 34D and 34DD, which is just nuts to me.

But anything smaller than D / DD just doesn't hold all the skin.

Happily, when I'm wearing a bra I actually look stacked. (When not, not!)

One thing I do have going for me is the world's biggest rib cage. :)

As your band size goes down your cup size may go up...

This is very true! I am 34DDD, if I want a looser band fit and go up to a 36, my cup size switches to a DD.

I loathe having to buy new bras especially since I need a 36 something and I will have to have leave plus sizes. I will have to go try on 500 different bras to find a new one. I really need to get fitted but the thought of that is embarrassing. Just a hold over from being obese for 2 decades. It shouldn't be this hard...

It's possible. My girls went from a 48 DD to a 36 C. My bra size has stabilized so I am stocked up, but at first I was just buying one at a time. Now, I have a drawer full of beautiful bras and panties!

I can so relate. Started at a 42dd, When I got down to a 36 band size I decided to treat myself to Vicky secret bra's during their semi annual sale.

I bought ( 4) 36dd's. Loved the style and comfort so much that I ripped the tags off two of them immediately but as the days went on something didn't "look " quite right.

I took the two remaining bra's back to Vicky secret to get properly fitted and the sales associate looked at me immediately and said that I was a triple D, not a double! I thought I'm supposed to go down in size, not up?! The triple D's fit like a glove. Glad to know I'm not alone.

It's as @@jess9395 explained. Cup size is relative to band size. Do your really not know this as an adult woman? If your band size goes down but your boobs stay the same, then your cup size goes "up". If you hold a 36 DD up to a 34 DDD, the cup should be the same.

To answer your question, no I didn't know this & not sure I agree w/you. I've heard several women say they went from a DD to a C & their band size went down too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
