Is there any way to go around your pcp and straight to a surgeon you are interested in talking to? Or is it a deal with your insurance that you must have the referral? Hopefully someone here can help you out with a name.

I scheduled consultations with surgeons in my area first (Vineland). They gave me all the requirements ie support group meetings, nutritionist appts, psych eval and I went from there. All my pcp has to do is give me pre-op clearance after reviewing the labs etc the week before surgery. Maybe it depends on your insurance?
