Hi,

I came across this site after meeting La_Madam in person at Dr Ortiz's office while I was there for my first fill.

I'm a Lap RNY from 5/99 (performed by Dr Alan Wittgrove), went to goal and then after 2 post WLS babies, found my inlet and outlet drastically stretched and able to eat anything and everything... with the exception of large quantities of sugar.

Researched literally the entire world for a surgeon that was properly trained and demonstrated surgical competency on doing a lap band over a bypass patient. One surgeon that met those indicators as well as several others was Dr Ortiz in Tijuana.< /p>

Had surgery on 10/01/04, met some great new friends (surgical buddies) Michael and Jeff and went back home to Denver CO without any complications.

Flew back to San Diego on 11/14, Mike met me at the airport and together we crossed over the border to get our first fill. This is where I met La_Madam and she told me about this site. Got my fill, 2.2 cc's, flew back to Denver that afternoon and now 24 hours post fill doing my liquids.< /p>

Linda

Hi Linda

I'm glad you made it home safely..and even more glad to see you here. This site is awesome..you will just be happy with all of the love and support everyone here offers. How are you doing so far with your fill? We were at Dr. Ortiz's office until 8:30 last night. my girfriend that I was with had to have port revision surgery due to a flipped port so after Dr. martinez saw all of his patients he took us over to the clinic where he preformed her surgery..what a long day! She was able to get her fill no problems..

Well I hope to see you around here often..Best of luck to you with your band and I hope this fill gives you the restriction you wanted.

Hi Linda,

Just want to say welcome and great that you have found this site. I just recently came out of lurking to join the group, first place I visited before deciding on the band.

Best wishes on your new Band

Hi, I am new to this site and need some support. I am currently scheduled to be banded on December 29 by Dr. Spivak in Houston, Texas. I am scared to death to have the surgery even though I hear it is pretty simple. What can I expect after surgery? What can and can't I eat? How long will I be out of work (I sit most of the time at work)? Please help. Thanks.

welcome nmiranda! That's lots of questions you have there. There is so much to learn. Most of these questions are readily answered in the many threads throughout this forum. Please feel free to read, read, read til your heart's content. This surgery is so much easier if you have done your research and know what to expect going in and coming out... There are many new bandster stories posted to pass this information along to new folks who are soaking up the info.

In the meantime. Here is a link to Inamed's Patiet Handbook which should be perfect guide for you. http://www.inamed.com/products/obesity/us/patient/lapband/information.html#booklet

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
