I'm only 100lbs overweight and I wouldn't mind losing 110 total. But I am curious on how quick you lose if you only need to lose 100lbs? I know it depends on the person. I am concerned that it'll be a lot slower than some of the others who have to lose 170+. Is there anyone out there who only needed to lose 100lbs?

From what I have seen it is a very individual thing - how fast you lose. I have about 140 to lose. I sat next to someone at support group last week who had surgery almost the same time as I did and she was smaller than me to begin with and had lost 57 lbs in two months. I have lost slightly over 40 in two months. Your recovery makes a difference, your activity makes a difference, your food intake makes a difference.

My recoevery has been fairly easy so I have been able to eat and drink almost from getting out of surgery. (Mind you it was ice chips then) I am hoping to maintain an average of 15-20 lbs a month, but I have no idea if that is realistic. I have lost 20 for each of the last two. I also exercise about an hour 5 days a week, although shortly that will increase too as I start weight training on top of my 5 hours of cardio a week.

It all affects each of us differently. No two of us go into surgery in exactly the same place and none of us reach goal on exactly the same path. Find YOUR path. You can do it!

Although I started out having to lose 100 lbs by time my surgery date came I had 77 lbs left to lose. In a little over 3 months I have lost 33 of those. I have lost slower than a lot of others, it seems - even though I stick to the diet, get all my Protein, Vitamins and Water in and exercise 5-6 days a week. Maybe it is because I am almost 60 years old - don't know. On reflection, though, 33 lbs in a little over 3 months is still pretty darn awesome and I think the slower weight loss is giving my body a chance to 'catch up'.

I have had some serious stalls along the way, too. They usually last for a few weeks at a time. I don't get overly concerned about them, though, as I am following the plan and the weight is coming off.

I think as long as you do what your doctor and nutritionist tell you to do you should be just fine. Hang in there and know that it will happen.

i am 5 months out and down 95-99lbs. I also have another 100 to lose. I've been wondering, since I've been stuck just before hitting 100lb loss, is it possible that the weight loss is done?? I sure hope not, I have a long way to go!

I weigh 230 and I want to weigh about 150, I'm 5 feet 7 inches tall. So I want to lose about 80 and I pray it just falls off! (obviously with diet and exercise) I just want it to happen fast. I'm 24 years old.

At 24 years of age ...the speed of weight loss is going to be much easier than a 52 year old!Any day.

So true. Age matters when it comes to how fast you lose. I'm 33. I've lost 74.4 and plan to lose around 110.

Surgery: August 18, 2015

Do you have a lot of excess skin?

No, not yet. I think I will want a Tummy Tuck one day but it's not that bad. My legs and arms are jiggly but I can tell a difference in increased muscle tone from working out. I still have a long way to go.

I'm not sure if age has anything to do with it.My Dr told me because I only need to lose 60 lbs mine might take longer than someone that has much more to lose.im 17 day post surgery and I am down 18lbs..not to shabby for a 62 year old..lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
