Of course my partner notices my weight loss. But yesterday...someone else noticed! Someone who had no idea I was dieting or seeing a nutritionist!

A co-worker said "Have you lost weight? I noticed last week but didn't say anything and this week I can definitely tell you have lost weight!"

I was like wow! Thank you and yes I have lost weight, I have been seeing a nutritionist and have been on a serious diet since the 1st of the year.

Wow, it really is showing that I'm working to lose weight!

I can only imagine how it will show after surgery in 2 weeks!

That's great! I think sometimes folks are hesitant to ask if you've lost weight because they don't want to come across as rude. I don't mind if people notice I've lost weight - it's pretty obvious I'm an obese lady so weight loss will definitely be noticeable :) It's only when people say things like "OMG, you're sooooooooo pretty now!" Then I lift an eyebrow and wonder "Sheesh, did you think I was super ugly before or something?"

ETA: Several extended family members of mine kept saying how pretty I was after I lost weight as a teenager and it bothered me. I made my parents swear up and down that they wouldn't tell my extended family about my surgery as a result. I'm going to have to prepare myself for the holidays this year...

I had to lose close to 50 lbs before anyone noticed besides those that knew I had the surgery. But I am a lot larger than you.

Thank you all!

If I had a dime for every time I have heard " you have such a pretty face"

We are all making strides and it's amazing!!

That's awesome people are noticing already! So motivating!

People always saw me in so many states of weight loss before, it took me losing about 60 pounds before people really started to say something!

I have never gotten that! I don't get any comments on my looks, but I know that is a common one for overweight people. Sometimes I think, "do I not have a pretty face?" LOL!

Well, those comments were usually family so not sure they count for anything! Lol

The face is the first to be noticed.

That's awesome news - it's always nice when you can get some acknowledgement of your efforts! If people are noticing already, just wait till a month from now, and a month after that!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
