Heartburn now starting 5 months later

Recommended Posts

I had a hiatal hurnea . Spelling? Fixed during my surgery in July. My surgeon told me it was possible that heartburn could come back with the sleeve. I was basically heartburn free the first few months!! It was fantastic!!! Then I would get it here or there, but no big deal and it would go away easily with ranitidine and tums. Now I feel like I get it almost daily and I eat more tums and it's not quick to go away with ranitidine like early on it was. It's not like it was before surgery, but I am scared. Does anyone have issues with heartburn at 5 months after surgery and it not as easily healed as quickly as in the beginning?

Oh yes. Have you woke up in the middle of the night vomiting stomach acid? I have. It sucks. My doctor put me on a prescription called pantoprazole. I take 40 MG of pantoprazole twice daily. It's a very affordable medication and currently its free with my insurance. After I started taking this, all of my heart burn and acid issues went away. There are some nights I forget to take it and sure enough, I'll know as I'll wake up later in the night choking on stomach acid.

I had tried over the counter stuff but it wasn't really effective. Hope this helps.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
