day 7 on optifast

Recommended Posts

Hi Andrea - I'm now on day 13 of Optifast -- take it one day at a time ...

There is not "right" or "wrong" amount to lose ... everyone is different -- depends on how much you weighed before you started, how active you are or are not, etc. I'm getting near the end and have only been weighing myself every 3-4 days -- so far I've been losing about 5 lbs every 3 days.

Keep true to the diet YOUR doctor gave you -- each place is different - some can have vegetables and pickles, others (like me) were told not to eat anything while taking the Optifast ... I really want my band to work, so I'm doing exactly as I've been told -- don't need any complications or hiccups along the way

I was on Optifast for 3 weeks and lost about 25lbs. I was able to eat a few veggies but those got old very quickly! You don't want to weigh yourself very often either as you may get discouraged if and when you don't see much weight coming off. Good luck to both of you. This is just the beginning...!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
