I don't have 2 years medical history can I get approved.

Can I still get approved for bariatric surgery, if I don’t have a 2 year medical history? I was on temporary assignments for the last 5 years and I couldn’t afford insurance. The last time I had medical insurance was at the time of my daughter’s birth which was again 5 years ago. Now my husband has a really great job and insurance so I’m looking into getting the gastric sleeve. I’ve gained over 80 pounds and I’m really scared that I won’t be approved without the medical history, please help. By the way I have BCBS Anthem if this helps. Thanks.

It is completely dependent upon your provider and your specific policy. You will need to contact your insurance company to find out for sure. Every provider and policy is different.

I have BCBS AL and they required a 3 year medical history. I didn't have this from my primary doctor so I called to ask if it was a mandatory requirement. They said it was mandatory and I would not be approved without it. I ended up having to track down my OBGYN in a different city to get records from 2012. I don't know if BCBS Anthem is the same way but usually it's spelled out pretty clearly in your policy. If it's listed as a requirement, they most likely will not waive it.

If you are denied you can always go self-pay where you currently live at or in Mexico as well.

I did not either. I went in for a physical and she did a medical history going back several years of my attempted weight loss (weight watchers, nutra system etc...?) to account for two years.

I have BCBS ANTHEM OF TEXAS & was required to write a letter why I did not have two year weight history which was because I had no insurance and I was approved In one business day. Good luck!

Depends on ur insurance I really didn't have any medical history before I started my 6 month nutrition stuff for bariatrics..... I had seen a dr a few times before but in a diff country and I did not have those records
